Blades upon Books - Traditionals

I know Moby Dick has been featured here quite recently, but I was inspired by a Stefan Schmalhaus video to finally pick it up (having somehow avoided ever reading it previously).

At one end a ruminating tar was still further adorning it with his jack-knife, stooping over and diligently working away at the space between his legs. He was trying his hand at a ship under full sail, but he didn’t make much headway, I thought.”
 
This dictionary was printed about the same era the knife was made.
