Boker "Tree Brand Classic" & Solingen made traditional knives

Yes they are very very nice. I have made a fair amount of fixed blades, but have always wanted a nice little folder a bit higher quality than what I had.

These Solingen ones are so well done. The size is perfect for a pocket knife, very light and the blade profiles on these two examples are very good.

Well said, just don’t tell anyone else. 🤣

Thank you very much, Erik.
It's a Böker Barlow Classic stainless Damascus by Chad Nichols, the material of handle is Bog Oak Wood. :)👍
That's bog wood? It looks green to me in the photos. Is it the same as the current bog Oak models? I have two and they look quite different. Strange.

I have a Boker Barlow with Bog Oak. Mine has smaller amounts of the green visible. I think the colors depend on the individual piece of wood used. I'll post a pic of mine in a few minutes.

Here's two images of mine, trying to show the very subtle green as it looks to my eyes. It's there, but very subtle. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see examples with less than mine, or no visible green.

edit - there's a bit more on the pile side, but again very subtle and difficult for me to get a good photo.

That's the one that is arriving today!!! I can't wait to get home and try it out!

Do you have any tips for caring for the wood and the blade? It already has an acid-patina on it, what else shall I do to care for it?

Maybe Renaissance Wax for the wood? Or, considering how old it is, does it need any maintenance at all?

BTW, I see zero green in these photos. 🤣🤣🤣 Maybe it is just me.

I'm still learning on the woods, but I've heard everything from just use it, to oils, to quality waxes. IIRC the blade is C75, a carbon steel, so just clean after use and keep wiped down with oil. Nice knife, I like the blade, but mine isn't used much at all. The Barlow Expedition is one of my most favorite knives and has been splitting pocket time with a Case Tear Drop. Just changed to a Pen and Medium Jack for Spring, to start making use of my other knives.

The green is there, just very subtle.

I like to fiddle with my pocket knives (don't most of us here, too?) so I got that Boker Bog Oak with non-stabilized wood and with that carbon steel figuring that it is actually high maintenance so I have something to fuss around with. I just got a text from the post office telling me that it has been delivered. Can't wait to get home!!!!!!!!!!!!!

E ErikMB my bog oaks don’t have as much green as the one Jose’ Pt-Luso Pt-Luso has but maybe a bit more than Gordon’s OldHercDude OldHercDude . I’m not at home right now or I’d post a picture. As far as the acid wash goes, I do nothing to maintain mine except wipe it off like Gordon said. I think you will actually notice that the acid wash will soften leaving a nice patina. At least that was my experience with my Boker Club.

I'm almost disappointed, then! ;)

Sounds like it won't require much maintenance. I'll have to satisfy my OCD some other way. 🤣

I also have one of the black beech(?) Prime ones coming in, too. I wonder which one will be more fun to use.

If only they came with a secondary blade, like the old ones, and were about 1-2 cm longer.
