Bose Knives

Hoss, that's a killer! I love the bolsters, the swedging, the jigging, the . . . hey, it's ALL there.

It's a beaut of a knife with some yumbuttery ivory. Alas...a mystery check appeared near the lanyard tube on the mark side. What would you do?

EDC it. The oil from your hands will keep the check from spreading. ;) (A good excuse, anyway!)

Here's another vintage Tony knife...an 8.5" hunter made of O1 tool steel and black walnut. This one was obviously made in 1975 :D Tony says that he slotted the handle with a table saw to fit the tang. He shaped the handle by carving it with a pocket knife until it was just about right and then sanded smooth. The pins are brass rods soldered to the tang. Tony says that the sheath was made later because of the stamp used to mark it was a newer stamp. Maybe 5 or 6 of these were made...not sure.

That check wouldn't bother me either. So the pins are inside of the rat tails? If so, is this the first one he has done that on?

Nice old knife with lots of character.

A check in the Ivory is a dilemma for the knife maker.

But not for me!!! :p Send it on over!!!

I think so too Charlie...it's cosmetic. It will probably never go any further than it is now. The dilema for a knife maker is, do I disassemble the knife for the one minute flaw? It wasn't a tough decision in this case.

If you are talking about the BP, no. The pivot pin is outside of the divot. Maybe you are talking about the brass pins on the dang fixed blade...

No, the BP. I thought it was "flutes" when the pin wasn't inside and rat tails when it was, but obviously I'm cornfused. And I know you and Tony did that on the Lanny's you made so I was just curious if he has done it yet.

Nah...he's a big chicken. He'll only try that on MY knives. :D

Remember...I provide a lot of the entertainment at Wilfred Works..... :p

That BP is amazing! Really, what check? The ivory has nice grains and is creamy beautiful. Can I say I'll take it?
