WOW, that Ka-Bar rendition is stunning. One day, I hope to be fortunate enough to get something from one of the Boses. Simply stunning. Thanks for posting them, Kerry!

Tony's favorite pattern of all time is the trapper. This Ka-Bar Dog's Head Trapper is an old and rare example of one of the finest trappers ever made. The one that Tony made (pictured here with it's namesake) is not just his take on the knife but an excellent reproduction. A little known fact is that this Ka-Bar Dog's Head Trapper pattern pre-dates the same pattern that Remington made, the Bullet R-1123. Tony's BackPocket frame was inspired by these great, old knives.

Spellbound!!

My first impression when looking at the picture of the Ka-bar and Tony's reproduction was the fantastic job on the bone! Wonderful knife.

I'm not sure that this pattern was made before Remington but the first dogahead was made about 1909 with the Union in north America stamp, had one of them one time. I think this pattern may have been made after Remingtons. I've never seen one stamped Union, sorry for the confusion. It's a pretty rare knife, you will see many Remingtons for 1 dogshead in this pattern.

Thanks for the added info Tony.

Did you jig and dye the bone yourself?

Reese did those but I've done it many times. It was a bribe for a set of bone he wanted for one. That's what understudies are for ain't it?

Case/Bose Coffin Jack... amazing! :thumbup::cool:

Hope Case gives young feller Reese a shot at a collaboration knife as well...! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

The blade is made out of 3 3/2" W2 from Don Hanson. Bone is old Utica Sawcut Honeybone.

Can a Barlow really get any better than that?
Man I love those swedges.:eek:

That is the best looking Barlow ever.

Is it normal to stamp both sides of the bolster? I don't think I have seen that before.

That's a great looking Barlow! Matchstrike pull and that stamp!! Doesn't get any
better than that. Old Utica bone is perfect....imho. Thanks for the wonderful pic's Kerry
They're amazing...

Gorgeous ivory on this one. Hopefully the quarter will give you a sense for how big this knife is.
