Naw...he doesn't need a name tag Charlie. Just look for the guy running around the room serpentine style dodging the lightning bolts.:D:D:D

There's going to a lot of "Damn you winner of Bose knife" during the Blade show drawings. People might want to leave the women and children elsewhere.

If I had an Arkansas Hunter in My Pocket I for one would ENJOY DAMNATION
OK Im gonna chill with the Damn You's...
I wont douse or flood the Board with them...
But I do reserve the right to sprinkle them about here and there....:):):)

At Blade.."No One can Here You Scream...

I'm sufficiently stunned now. And would just like to add...damn all you Bose ho's...someday I'll be damned. ;)

Kerry,

Fantastic Photos! You do..just keep getting better and better! (Coop, are you watching?) :p

Now about the knives. Mike is right! It's hard to get much better than the NEW Collab, then we see the Saddlehorn from Reese. Oh man....It's been said, but "Does it get any better than this?" :D

I can't wait to hold and get hold of the Collab! Will their be enough to go around ? Hope so! The wait for the "Real Deal", from either Reese or Tony, is a bit more tolerable, when a collab of this quailty comes!

Just my 2 Cents.

Hello all -

I am a newbie here, been lurking (enjoying the pics and "damn yous") for the last month or so; and acknowledge that I am way out of my depth talking knives with you folks.

However, I found what I thought was a new Bose/Case collaboration (Sway Back Jack) on the Shepherd Hills site. Is that something different?

Thanks for any clarification you can provide.

David

Davidees,

Welcome to the forum.

The swayback jack is indeed a Bose design and new to the Case lineup but is not one of the yearly Case-Bose collaborations.

That said, it looks like it's going to be a winner since the pattern is a very popular one around these parts. Now we'll have to see how they dress it up and if they offer it in carbon (CV) steel besides the standard stainless.

Enjoy your stay here.

Welcome Davidees! Look around, ask questions...make yourself at home! There's lots of Good Folks, Great Knives, Fantastic photos to enjoy here with Friends!

Thanks for the welcome and clarification about the Sway Back Jack.

I am curious about the yearly Case-Bose collaborations. I assume based on Blues' distinction of the two types of collaborations that there is some quality/desirability difference between the Sway Back Jack (I ordered one with each of the two scales) and the next yearly Case-Bose offering - maybe the materials, fit and finish, etc. Where do you find them when they become available? However, maybe my question is like asking about the location of your favorite fishing hole:)

Thanks for any light you can shed.

The annual Case-Bose collaboration knives are kind of like semi-custom knives. They use better steel and materials (currently ATS-34 stainless instead of Tru-Sharp) and the knives have a lot more handwork in them as they are produced by just a few experienced folks at Case after receiving a prototype from Tony. The shields are pinned and the blades have bushings. The prices reflect the higher level of fit and finish and the demand for the limited knives. Often they are available in bone, stag and pearl or abalone scales.

There are many Case dealers that can get the knives (including many online) but the knives won't be available until later this year.

This year's model will be the aforementioned Arkansas Hunter which should be a dandy!

Welcome Davidees!

The Case/Bose Collabs are much different in the production quality and price than the "run of the mill" production knives. This is on purpose ofcourse and is designed to give the consumer a "nearly handmade" in quality knife at a reasonable price.

You can browse this link to see the progression of mose the Case/Bose collabs over the years and compare them to the handmade ones by Tony. They Case knives are indeed very close to the prototype provided to Case by Mr. Bose.

Thanks for the information and link. I would love to get a shot at one of those Arkansas Hunters. So, I'll stay tuned.

Welcome Davidees, :)

There's a great bunch of folks here who are really well informed, and happy to share their knowledge.

I recently acquired this Case Bose collaboration Dogleg Jack from Vince, and still can't get over what a fine piece of craftsmanship it is. The fit, finish, and function are comparable to a high dollar custom knife, imho.

Look at the fit and finish of the 2-blade springs, spacer, frame, and bone on this one. I think Bastid would say "It's almost like one piece of metal." ;)

fewpop -

Congratulations. That sure is a beauty. I'd be very happy to have one just like that in my pocket.

This knife is patterned after a 4" "Backpocket" when open. The blade is 52100 (stamped with a new stamp) and etched with ferric chloride. Tang is tapered. The stag is sweet ofcourse! :D

I made the sheath based on a description that I got over the phone from our buddy J.Culpepper. The idea is you can affix it to your belt or remove it and put it in your pocket. The D-ring on the back lays flat when the belt loop is removed so that it doesn't irritate your bum. Also, just in case the handle gets all bloody from use, the sheath entirely covers it. You can slip the thumb and forefinger on the edges of the handle to pull it from the sheath.

I sure like the lines of that knife and your sheath looks beautiful and functional. After seeing this knife and the desk knives that Tony has done I may be more inclined to pine after a Bose fixed blade than a folder.

Pretty heretical for one of my first posts. :)
