Bose Knives

WayNorth, I am way South and those need a Southern exposure for sure.
Very Nice I must say.
Thanks for sharing,

OH MY GOSH! he had a sleeper MOP Bose with 2 Protos.

The HOness is strong in that one, Sir Charlie of Waynorth :thumbup:

Any chance of a side by side of the magnificant Bose and Shapleigh hunters? Those knives are triple bodacious.

I like comparing knives also Thawk, as you know. Here's an opportunity to see part of the trail of evolution, under Tony's talented guidance.
Hopefully these pictures will reveal the subtle differences that keep these knives in my hands, or on my desk; I can't bear to stick them in the safe!!
Grandson, and proud Grandpa!

Thanks Charlie! I get pretty impressed over a lot of patterns, but this one is just outstanding. Downright outrageous. I don't have a Bose knife yet, but if they do make these as a collaboration knife, I will have to get one. I hope there will be information posted as to how to get in line. In the meantime, the bottom picture will have to go into my EDWR (Every Day Wallpaper Rotation)

When and who by was the Shapleigh Arkansas Hunter made?

As far as I can tell, that pattern first came from the Empire Knife Co. of Winsted, CT. They made most of Shapleigh's knives early in the century. When Alvord sold out Empire 1919-1920, some employees left and formed American Knife Co, Winsted, CT. (story sound familiar?). This was a revival of the name from an earlier American Knife Co, in Thomaston, CT, which closed in 1911. The pattern seems to have traveled with the cutlers!!??
My friend in Winsted thinks that American made some for Shapleigh also, but the one I have shown is an Empire-made one.
I also have two others, one marked Empire, and one marked American! Seen elsewhere in this forum.

That Picture is and accompanying history is thoroughly appreciated
it is evident that these patterns were designed by people who used them
that knife looks wonderful and secure to hold and Use

Thank You and Tony for the preservation and continuation of a Beaut!

I think I am in love. Since I can not get the proto, I guess I better order quick the Case version. Thanks for sharing.
James
