BOTM March 2023 722 Spitfire w/ Black Cerakote Aluminum Handle, Black Cerakote S45VN Full Flat Drop Point w/ Green Spacer and Logo

Nice. Any idea who made it?
No. An eBay purchase from a woman who sold a number of interesting Buck items over a period of time. I have an unconfirmed sense the items may have been related to a one time sales rep. There were two leather handled 103's that I purchased. The age of the knives relates to the same era of the Buck Cabela's 914, Buck's first leather washer knife handle. The leather washers exactly matches the 914 handle. It would be nice if I could associate it with Buck as a prototype, or even a lunch box knife. Too bad Houser is no longer hangs out here to ask.

Thanks DeSoto.
Any of those are cool.
Maybe even one with the smallest of drop points..... Sorta like a 110 slim, or the Jan. Botm blade shape......?

I like the 5160 idea.
A 5160 103 languished on web specials awhile back. I was too busy being frugal at the time.
I just need to grab a phenolic 103 and play with reshaping it.

I think it could make for an interesting knife.
....like I need another project. 🙄

Is the 117 really a small 119, or is it a big 102?

I agree it has more in common with the 119. The 102 doesn’t have a fuller but some 117’s don’t either.

The 119 and 117 are straight, the 102 has an angle to the blade.

No matter how you look at it the 117 was the missing link in the line up.

The 117 is the perfect fixed blade for an avid hiker. I think that Buck should also do a special version of the 117 for the Boy Scouts.
