BOTM March 2023 722 Spitfire w/ Black Cerakote Aluminum Handle, Black Cerakote S45VN Full Flat Drop Point w/ Green Spacer and Logo

I was hoping for a Vantage in green g10 scales but this will do. I do like the Spitfires and I'm starting to regularly carry a BOTM Budgie

M mars5l Ive been thinking about carrying some BOTM as users... some are just too nice to sit in a box. I wanted to get one of these to carry but the price was too high.
I bought 1 because I collect spitfires. It will probably sit in the box or get gifted before i carry and use it. My son got me a custom 722 last Christmas, and I carry it on the weekends, but dont cut anything but tape with it...

While this March BOTM didn't really interest me they did say that March and April was going to be kind of busy so we'll see what they come up with.
I have some custom 110s in mind but they may just surprise me with a regular offering or two.
A 110 with ebony scales, an S30 drop point blade and clip point options with finger grooves would be a good thing.

Second month in a row I haven't received an email. Guess I'm off their list 😒
I like Spitfires. I have three 722's: an SK Blades SFO; a Custom Shop; and an el cheapo standard 420HC, so I passed. Now if it had been an 726 Mini I'd probably had to buy one.
Spitfires are nice knives. Everybody enjoy their new BOTM

I hope the people who like the modern designs enjoy their new BOTM! I'm spared another stressful decision because I'm not in that group. Any time a 110 or 112 rolls out, though, it's tough to resist!

Passing on this one even through I really like Spitfires... my pet peeve, CeraKote on a stainless blade, not needed for corrosion protection... purely cosmetic and ends up looking like hell with use.

between july 14 and july 17, Buck sold 392 of 750 FFG 119s... despite the forum consensus, this BOTM is selling much better... sold 4 short of 600 as of this post

yeah that one was not well recieved. I like it myself but im one of the rare few. its a great slicer.

they have done nice spitfire botm in the past. i honestly think they are trying to go after the EDC market. its a shame because they used to make beautiful american knives. I should say that they still do, but theyre after the BO crowd. I would never purchase a BO as they are overpriced and boring.

Well, there are about 360 left. So they are selling OK, I guess. But if they had been something more appealing, they'd be gone by now. I suppose from Buck's point of view, if they all sell, it doesn't really matter if it takes 2 hours or 2 months, notwithstanding the warehouse storage space. I'm not saying the Spitfire isn't a good knife, because it is. But again, of all the knives to offer, they picked the one where you can already get 1000s of varieties. Really, they could have just added whatever is different about this Spitfire in the options in the Custom Shop selections.

I think of it as Buck has to pick a knife balancing a lot of different factors..Someone probably said "How about a BOTM with some green in it?"...and that was the easiest one. We probably make more of a big deal about it than Buck does..To make something really special for the BOTM takes long term planning to get all the parts blades, handles ect together and then actually make it. I bet we see a few really special BOTM's but the program HAS changed since it first started. Now that it is a established marketing strategy numbers in the runs has gone way up and what Buck charges over a 'standard' model knife has increased a little too. That's because marketing knows it WILL sell out most of the time quickly. A good comparison would be to a star baseball hitter.. When Buck steps up to the plate the crowd is on it's feet waiting for a home run! But sometimes it's a walk or strike out or maybe a single or double but everyone knows it could be a monster home run. Even a grand slam!

Thanks for replying. I didn't mean to imply that Buck did it intentionally. Its not a matter of speed. I never received the botm email last month, or this month so far. I checked and y'all didn't become inadvertantly blocked, so yeah...I've been dropped off the list. I'll reup when I get around to it. Not a big deal.
