BOTM March 2023 722 Spitfire w/ Black Cerakote Aluminum Handle, Black Cerakote S45VN Full Flat Drop Point w/ Green Spacer and Logo

they have done nice spitfire botm in the past. i honestly think they are trying to go after the EDC market. its a shame because they used to make beautiful american knives. I should say that they still do, but theyre after the BO crowd. I would never purchase a BO as they are overpriced and boring.
BO....?

Man back in my day that was body odor....
What does it mean now?

Meh. It's nice, but nothing... Special.

Needed something to really set it off, like a new blade geometry. I could see the Spitfire in an Americanized Tanto.

Or maybe a nice clip point, along the lines of a traditional 112.

I might be a little biased. As much as I like the Spitfire overall, recurves make me a sad panda.

I just spent 3 hours disabled along I-96 between Lansing and Detroit with no internet connection.
(Thanks T-Mobile. Worse decision I've made lately)😵

And was wondering if the BOTM was out......🤔

I like Spitfires.
I'd be interested if I hadn't just installed a new furnace, and have 1 of the 4, four foot diameter trees down in my back yard from a wind storm.😬

Sigh.

If they had put g10 or a carbon fiber handle on it I think it would be a nice grab.
A cerakoted handle will not look good long as a user.
Flat grind is a plus.
I don't know much about s45v blade steel..... Nor do I care truthfully.

I think it's cool tho.

Anyone need any firewood?

too bad I didn't know, I live less than a hour from there (you already know that, I think). In my case, I have two dental implants to pay for. Not covered by insurance with a cost of about $12k.

T-Mobile = I have it, reception can be non existent at times

Spitfires = Awesomeness

New Furnace = $$$$$ could have been used on knives : (

Tree down = SUCKS

g10 or a carbon fiber = I love micarta

Flat grind = should be a real nice slicer

S45VN = 10 more than S35VN : )

Well I must be on my way, the siren song of hops and barley call. 500 Sold (499 as of this posting), that is the old-new, production totals for the BOTM. I wish I was wrong when I said someday 1000 will be the new normal production totals on the BOTM. But 750 and 1000 has become the new norm (kinda), it seems to me. I say, BOOOOOOO !

And purchasing limits of 10, instead of 3, only promotes flippers (add your own personal Pros and Cons here - it has all been said before).

2024 Limited Edition BOTM, "only 2,000 produced". Sad Sad Face.

When the Spitfire came out 10 years ago, I was not sold on the model. It had severe lock rock and the aluminum was not comfortable in hand and felt slick to the touch and had lots of hot spots. However, a few months ago I bought one with a G-10 handles. Of course, Buck had fixed the blade play issues and it is so much nicer to handle and quite a bit lighter, at 2.7 ounces. The aluminum version weighs in at 3.2 ounces. For me, it was a game changer and I'm now a big fan of the non-aluminum Spitfires and on the hunt for more! Unfortunately, I believe the only way to get one is in the custom shop or secondary market. Buck should consider a regular production offering in G-10 or Micarta. I think they would sell a ton.

When you custom order one, is the turn around time quicker than 6-8 weeks?
The parts are already made up.
I have seen a video and the parts are all in a chest, and the worker simply assembled them.

I've heard stories that, during annual sales, you could get one while you wait.

When people buy a knife, many want it pretty quick.
If Buck's turnaround time on those was just a few days, they should note it as such.
Heck I probably would have ordered one by now.

yes... they do turn around quicker than other customs... not 2 weeks though... my last custom was 13weeks before they put it in the mail.
