NiceOrdered my "Stand with Ukraine" knife too. I am a sucker for wooden scales, and those look awesome.
I saw that last night, when I noticed that all the emails from BPS knives were going into my Spam box!Looks like BPS has another new model. This one is definitely not my cup of tea.
8I am thinking about getting one of those "Stand With Ukraine" knives though.

I'm going to cover the lanyard hole when I put on new handles. This is the BPS savage.

I took the scales off, rounded the edges and sanded it all down. Put on a few coats of linseed oil. This is "bog oak" which in my understanding is an oak tree that has been underwater and fossilized. The wood is very hard and it does not take the oil near as well as regular oak/maple etc I think it's an improvement, though.
I also rounded the sharp edges of the tang around the scales and gave the blade a paper towel wrap in cider vinegar for an hour or so. I've found this helps keep surface rust from the camp knives along with mineral oil.
It's a good knife. I look forward to beating it up. Super sharp, comfortable to use, great sheath.
Im half tempted to cut off that lanyard hole.... Hmm.... Haha
That's what sold me on the savage.Carrying this HK5 today. I wish BPS would make more flat-ground knives

Oh I'm definitely grabbing one of those... Although... Possibly the scales and definitely the sheath will be changed, lol. Maybe they will sell just the blade like some of the others.Looks like BPS has another new model. This one is definitely not my cup of tea.

I quite a lanyard hole, just don't like how BPS are doing themI'm going to cover the lanyard hole when I put on new handles.
Same here mateThat's what sold me on the savage.
The Independence one was on sale for a surprisingly long time, considering there were only 100. The Stand With is unlimited I believeI'll have a look at the Stand With knife. I missed the Independence one.
I wonder how I missed so many days of this thread. I'm not going to try to figure it out, though. I'd just confuse myself.

That's annoyingI ended up leaving it. The only down side is the end of the tang hits the board before the whole blade comes in contact with it, making some food chopping a bit annoying... But how often am I really going to use it in that way? Not very often.
Please share photos of yours! I'm curious to see how it turns out. Thanks!
It's a useful blade isn't it?!![]()
I am really liking this small fixed blade. Crazy sharp and fits into the ruler pocket on my work pants (with sheath of course). Used it today to clean up some cuts while working with wood.
indeed! I posted about the new Mora line which is in the same category (scandi with wood scales), but “standing with Ukraine” and buying their products feels like a higher priority, and I say that as a proud Swedish guy!Ordered my "Stand with Ukraine" knife too. I am a sucker for wooden scales, and those look awesome.
It is! Quickly becoming my favorite fixed. It's a useful blade isn't it?!![]()

Agree! I saw your post about the Mora and I like their products. But these seem a bit overpriced.indeed! Yes. I agree that the $150 price tag that was mentioned by Mora is a bit hefty, around half of that seems reasonable. Let’s see where they end up price wise in retail in a year or so, and meanwhile, buy Ukrainian if the wooden handled scandi knife bug is biting too muchAgree!
