BPS Knives of Ukraine

I posted this about a month ago in the Maintenance forum but got no response there. Love the BPS Adventurer, but it's only a $40.00 knife so the makers can't spend much time with fit and finish, so.....

Thought I would give it a try.

I could have kept applying more layers with more hand rubbing, but have to call it quits sometime!

I’ve got this old cigar box I’ve been wanting to modify to store knives in. Has anyone done anything similar?
I've got about half my collection stored that way :D There was a whole thread dedicated to cigar boxes a couple of months back. Search function should turn it up
Really nice :)

I really like that finish and was thinking of trying the tru oil out!

I've applied a few tung oil coats to mine, but it definitely does not have that luster. Very nice!!

Wow, you are going all out here.

The wood on the BPS savage was so rough that I just sanded everything down and hit it with linseed oil a few times. The finish doesn't look nearly as good as your project, although I could have sanded more.

I also wet sanded the edges of the blade tang to round them off a bit so it wasn't so rough in hand.

Your tru-oil looks like a far superior product. Thanks for the photos. Im going to grab some of this!

Do you have a recommendation on where to get the tru oil? I bought a bluing kit from the same company at rural king but don’t know if there is a different place to get tru oil from

I tested this knife on a receipt paper and it is super sharp. The wood felt smooth and seemed like it fit the knife perfectly. The only discrepancy I found was at the guard but that doesn’t bother me at all. I think I’m going to blue it and true oil the handles and call it good.
I don't own many brand new knives. So, my sample size is quite small. But, my Adventurer was hands down the sharpest knife I've ever received "straight out of the box". They are really doing something special over there in Ukraine at BPS Knives, especially at that price point.

I ordered the adventurer in a different order so I haven’t received it yet but of the two I have now the smaller one is a razor because it’s so sharp and the bigger one is really sharp and I’d imagine a great one to use in the woods. All in all I think i received great knives for the price especially when you throw in the sheaths

I applied a few coats of tung oil to one of mine, as the wood felt a bit dried out, but it looks nothing like that. I have no experience of Tru-Oil, and I don't know if it's available here, but it looks impressive 😎👍
Thanks. I’m a big fan of Tru Oil. I started using it on gun stocks a long time ago.
Do you know what oil/oils it contains?

Edit - Fairly pricey, but I can get it here 😊

'A blend of linseed and other oils'.

My package arrived this week!
For some reason i ordered two Techno Bee's. Cannot remember why, but i am sure i had a reason. I guess i leave one as is, and wrap the handle of the second one in Paracord. Might also refinish the wooden handle. Will have to see what oils i have in stock. All knives came razor sharp!
