BPS Knives of Ukraine

There is also a Kiridashi knife from BPS. It is slightly larger and comes with a leather sheath and the option of wearing it around the neck

I've got one of those. :)

Out for a rainy/humid trek to retrieve The Meakomobile from the brewery. I usually cut a staff and sharpen it to a point....there are wild dogs in the district. Be Prepared.

Jon it’s good to know that with that beauty you probably won’t need a staff. Always remember when dealing with wild dogs it’s best to just run and pray ‼️🙏

meako meako what events transpired that required you to leave your whip at the brew house?!

sounds dangerous…….
Well I popped in after food shopping to pay the lady for my paella from the day before...ended up having a few beers...then over the road to Club Dalmeny bowls club for more beer and the footy...courtesy bus home....The good thing about Dalmeny is the car sat there all night unlocked with the windows down and was till there 🥴👍.

I don't know if the BPS knife for a 2023 Porch knife idea was floated as a joke, but I would seriously be interested in seeing if we could make that happen. I would love to have the opportunity to help make a bulk order. I am always excited to find opportunities to support Ukrainian businesses these days. I realize that the knives are not really what we typically get for forum knives, but we might be able to swing a very affordable, very usable knife, and support a country that needs all the help it can get in its struggle for freedom and democracy in the face of evil. And of course, as is the case with any orders out of Ukraine, if the knives can actually be delivered, great! I'm sure I would be up for multiples to give as gifts to friends.

Edited to add: I don't want to derail this thread, and I don't want to be the one to initiate any forum knife drama. I just wanted to chime in. Please feel free to delete this post if it seems too off topic.

What a life! 😁😎

I suspect BPS just take their cue from the large number of international manufacturers who have jumped on the Scandi-grind band-waggon over the past 30 years, and from the customers who think they need this sort of grind on an outdoor knife. BPS knives come sharp and the Scandi-ground knives work fine, but I'd rather have a flat-grind

I sometimes think the line between saber and scandi is rather broad and blurred.
I found the mini camper difficult cross-cutting carrots. Maybe there's a knack I don't have.

My savage is still downstairs awaiting new handles. I'm almost ready. I still don't know where my drill press is, but my drill guide should work.

I think you're right Jer, and blade grinds are often mis-labelled, even by manufacturers. I think the Scandi works OK on wood, but for slicing food items, a FFG works better every time. I'm sure the fashion for Scandi grinds has been gift to many manufacturers as it's easier, and cheaper, to do, but BPS can clearly do an excellent FFG. Looking forward to seeing your Savage my friend :)
