To me it looks like a bloated .30-30 Win, almost as if someone necked a case up to .358.
This picture has me literally drooling! Seriously! The grain on those knives is amazing.
I just preordered one and they dropped the hotdog shield to the Tidioute shield.
I use my feet and a Case xx blade pick.Actually, back in the first couple years of GEC (2006-2008) they made a few left-handed knives. Pretty scarce, but they're out there.
He just bought this knife and he is using it. What a man ! The more you use them the better they look. I can't wait for my three #44s soon. It's probably just as garish on the bone version? Usually these types of things work themselves out once the knife is in hand.
I like the way brass tarnishes, so I'm looking forward to that aspect of the knife.
The #44 is built like a tank and feels great in hand.

One arm "left handed" ! I use my feet and a blade pick ! I love it ! I will enjoy my 3 #44s soon.Unless you're left handed (like me!)![]()
The #44's & the #78's are perfect (same side nicks), but a 2 blade #77 or #85 not so much.
Regardless, all GEC's are upside down & backwards for me.![]()

In other words, I'm pretty much *stuck* with single blades.![]()

I wish they offered "Autumn leaf" in this run. Autumn leaf has a little red added to it. This #44 Autumn gold has little to none gold in it. Very disappointing ! I will complain to GEC after I receive my blade.Have the autumn leaf pre-ordered, but couldn’t resist the ebony. Had to order one today. I came to the conclusion that Tidioute and Northfield are a “must” for this pattern...at least for me. Pretty sure there won’t be any buyers remorse with this decision .![]()

This was the pattern I planned to give a pass. BUT, can you believe the grain on some of these cocobolo knives?! And the brass just sets it off perfectly! I just reserved one. So much for restraint!

That is a real winner, Perry!Another hit by the good folks at GEC!
Got this one in from GunstockJack yesterday, fast shipping and thanks, Barry! Perfect blade centering, great snappiness, about a 7, and just a beautiful knife to hold and use. Looks vintage, feels great in hand and will get used!
