Brass is back on the menu... GEC #44

I wasn't going to get one of these but I made a spur of the moment decision and bought one, I am glad I did. This is a beautiful work of art, Bravo GEC!!!!
The figuring on the cocobolo is stunning, one of the best GEC's I own!!! Get one before they are gone you won't regret it!! The pull is about a 7 and a 5, perfect!

Nicely figured covers right there. My fingers are crossed mine at least resembles that when it lands. The straight grain is fine but the swirly Cocobolo is what I'm hoping for.

Nice Jeff:thumbsup: Mine arrived and it's beautiful grain (albeit straight) on the pile side but oddly dark on the mark side, funny but odd works for me:D I do like the "Owl" figure in the grain towards the bottom bolster:thumbsup:

Waiting impatiently for my cocobolo and looking forward my knife cutting, my blades patina-ing, my wood darkening, and my brass tarnishing. Hey look, parallel structure! I guess my public school education accounted for something!
As I’m waiting impatiently for my second
Although one will be a safe queen which will probably be my first one I got from Barry at Gunstock Jacks it’s a stunner in all areas so it will hard to beat . I’ve got another that should be here mid week from another dealer and can’t wait so I can start carrying one of them
My first hasn’t left the safe from the first night because I’m afraid I’ll start carrying it lol .

After seeing jlhoffman74 jlhoffman74 ’s pics I finally broke down and ordered one. No real particular reason why but I had been avoiding this run. Hard to resist a 3.5” clip/pen jack, with beautiful covers and excellent craftsmanship. Hoping mine turns out as well as the others that have been posted.

I have a cocobolo on it's way to me now. Ordered over the weekend, so I just added a note in the comments for a more red and/or figured example. Will post pics of what shows up in a couple days. Very excited for this one. The jigged bone and brass looks equally as impressive.

Very nice !! I bet with some oil/wood polish it will really make the grain pop again to
Cocobolo is one of the oiliest woods and retains it for an indeterminate length of time even after many years. The reason it darkens is just dirt. To brighten up my cocobolo users I just clean them with soap and water with a sponge and wipe them dry..

Thanks for all the comments, she is a beaut!! I don't know if I will try and track another one down but this one is a user. I really like the squared bolsters as opposed to the rounded ones on the tidioutes. I can't wait for the patina to form on this one, it will only get better with time and use. I don't know if the cocobolo will turn dark brown/black or not it all depends on that particular piece of wood, I have another GEC 85 that turned really dark almost ebony like and then another that is still red.

Has anyone gotten the Cocobolo with satin finish blades? I am anxiously awaiting one with the satin finish. I thought a few had come through that way already, apparently more will come at the end of the run.

I'm waiting on mine too. I believe Mike knifeswapper knifeswapper said they'd be the last to be made so it's sit and wait.

Pity they don't offer a Smooth Bone version of this pattern too, I think it would be very suitable and desirable. Don't tell me the Stag is going to have brass bolsters as well....:rolleyes::D

Yep! I think the boat was missed on both smooth bone & acrylic covers.

But alas, that ship has sailed. ;)

Based in part on the fantastic photos and comments here I ordered a 44 cocobolo. Really looking forward to having this in hand and will post pics once I receive.
