Bret Dowell Knives

My pulls are usually the same and don't very much from knife to knife unless requested. I'd say there around a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Great looking knife, and as others have said, the stag is magnificent.

I am not one for shields, but just out of interest, is it harder to put a shield on stag(uneven surface) compared to micarta?

I wouldn't say its any harder but sometimes it sure is hard to grind that beautiful bark off to get a shield to look right. I laid out a few shields on this piece to see which would fit the best with the least amount of scale removal.

Thank you.

Recently picked this one up from Vince and am really impressed by it. Really a well built knife, super tight, great feel, it's really just dialed. This is actually the first knife I've ever owned with a wharncliffe blade. I really like how Bret shapes his swaybacks, the peaked rather than rounded top corner of the butt echos the lines of the main blade rather nicely I think.

Makes me happy to know I have my name on Bret's list.

Bret's knives are great and the Wharncliffe blade is one of my favorite shapes. Terrific for opening mail and packages.

Thanks guys! And I agree, Bret's knives can stand beside the very best out there I think...really impressive stuff that is an incredible value.

Congratulations on owning a Dowell. IMO Bret makes one of the best knives going.
That is a superb looking knife.

Hey Dowell. Larry sent me the green slicer. What can I say? I'm a butcher and this style knife does all the work before steaking out with a 10". I rotate between a Bose, a couple Menefees, and this one will be put to work. Workin with these knives 40 plus hours a week is a lot of fun. Thank you Bret. This knife is OUTSTANDING. I cant say enough good things about it. Larry, thank you aswell for the best leather a man can have. Oklahoma does em best. -Izzy P.S. Is it 154cm? or?

Here is my knife from Bret, just arrive about an hour ago. This barehead half trapper is 3 5/8" closed with a 2 3/4" main blade. CPM154 blades, barbwire micarta covers and the gimp/yukon shield. Pull is a perfect 6.

That is a beautiful knife, congrats! Love the pattern and that micarta looks great on there. Brett puts together such a great knife, you can just see the impeccable fit and finish.
