Bret Dowell Knives

The stag drop point is the best of the bunch there Chief....no question at all!

Great looking array of Bret's work John, I agree with Jake and Bret, drop points are fantastic for use.
I pulled this one out for today's rain, my only wharncliffe in this CF shadow city knife.

Tim -
compliments to you and the others on your fine photos. I have always steered away from wharnecliffe styles but I think it would be the cat's a$$ for cutting cordage and leather in braiding projects.

Would that handle style be a sow belly?

PS - what's your cool ring with the crazy skull?

Hi there Jason,
Much appreciated, I agree I used to steer away from straight edges but they're great for boxes, letters, etc.

If you're talking about the knife on this page above in barbed wire then yes it's a single blade sowbelly from Bret

The ring is from SilverPiston made by a friend of mine Steve West. :D
It's a carved hobo mercury dime silver soldered onto a band.
My good luck charm for whenever I ride/it fits under my gloves due to the low profile.

Thanks Tim. I'll bug you more about that ring some time...

So your CF Shadow City Knife above is just that? Not a sow belly handle? So much to learn. Sorry for ignorate questions and don't mean to distract from this thread. Here's my Dowell in action to get us back on track:

Thanks Jake. Is my first of Bret's knives, 3 1/8", beautiful sounding snap yet easy to open. A friend snabbed it for me at Blade a few years back. Glad I dug it out for the group shot, it deserves some pocket time.

Feel free to drop me a PM or email about the ring :)
Yep, it's built/a tribute to the original Loveless city knife frame
Fantastic looking dogleg :D

Tim's City Knife is nearly as cool as mine.

My current Dowells after the two recent additions.

Thanks for the opportunity to grab another piece of your work, Bret! This new one is just as impressive as the rest.

I just got this in today... Pretty sweet piece...Dowell Trapper, she's a big'n... 4 1/16", with a beautifully ground XHP blade... Strong pull, maybe a 6-7. Sharp as sh*t.
