The scenario was, a dark night, a walk from the back of our mini suv to our shed, task, carry 5 bundles of roofing shingles about 80 pounds per bundle, some were still wrapped most were loose, so I would carry about half at a time of the loose ones and carry the wrapped packs themselves, silly now that I think of it, but I'm pretty strong, but kinda stupid

Last bundle, tired by now as I had to go and load them from my friend's house. Didn't want to leave them in my wife's car... So up goes the last bundle on my right shoulder, down along side our house to the shed out back, the ground is uneven, made more so by the snow and ice, I had a path that was more in the snow for better traction, but about a third the way there, 200 ft walk there abouts, the ice I stepped on gave way, slid sideways, felt my left foot fold up against my leg! I was pretty scared as I instinctively knew that shouldn't do that

and down I went, bundle tried to take off my head in the process. I laid there for a while, knowing I wouldn't be able to walk back to the house, started packing snow into my shoe hoping to head off some swelling. After a few minutes I started out through the ice/snow/water and mud to the front of my house, my wife hadn't heard my yell as I fell, well, The Voice was on you know

so when I got to the front door, I made it through and collapsed in the kitchen, NOT happy with my predicament, well, I'm still not happy yet!
The wife got her computer chair with wheels, I put my left knee on it and used it as a kind of walker and made it to the bedroom, took off the muddy clothes and laid in bed and she brought some ice paks and there I stayed til morning...
I will say I was fairly brave, just pissed, I know people have had FAR worse injuries and that I suppose helped me keep my poise, it's that Spartan in me I guess. But we'll see what the doc says this afternoon, I read the exam is probably more painful than the injury, oh joy...

edited to add, if they ever make a movie of this, I want John Cusack to play me...
