Buck 110 Collector tins

Does that mean that to me [as an average male] all her shoes should look alike???
They do to me unless its the pair I trip over in the morning as I'm trying to get dressed for work. :o

I'll tell ya...<long boring story coming - ALERT!>...

I took a class in sketching/drawing in college [long ago], and the instructor told us the hardest parts of the anatomy to get right were -

Hands
Feet
Ears

I agree with him; because these are also the least attractive parts...and shoes have to be the stupidest thing to spend money on...(I still wear penny loafers)...

Now, having said that...I was watching Milla Jovavich in Resident Evil the other night [taped it!], and she had a pair of outstanding looking boots on...I'd be proud to be seen with a woman wearing those... ;)

Are you sure it was the boots?? :D  :D

OK...I caved in!!! I opened my tin from John.
The curiousity of the blade wobble comments and just the fact that a knife should be seen and appreciated got the best of me. "Hi, my name is Goose and I'm a Buckaholic". Plus JB4570 sent me an e-mail asking if I was gonna keep it shrinkwrapped in the tin like baseball cards in a wrapper or use it like a Buck knife...that was like a "double dog dare ya"!!!! He made me do it!!!!

Glad I did open it...No wobble at all. Rock solid. BEAUTIFUL wood inlays. Thanks again John :)

I like the horizontal sheath but am concerned about the inside snap hardware scratching/cutting into the wood.

Anyone have a cure for that? Not my Buckaholicism, but a solution for the snap messing up the wood...

The hospital gown sure didn't do anything for me...but she got a doctors "tunic" at the end...and a shotgun out of a police car... ;)

White jacket, lace-up high boots w/flat soles, Mossburg roadblocker...What's not to like??? :D

Heh...The town was called "Raccoon City"...I still haven't figured that joke out...but I'm sure one is there... ;) :D

I got my "tin" today that I bought on Ebay. I did open it as the 110 was to be a carrier. To my dismay the blade has a wobble. I know I can send it to Buck but jeeze, what a disappointment. I really hate blade wobble and can't stand even a bit of it. This is my second Buck with a wobble and both are from Idaho...

Like they used to say about the AMF Harleys of the 70's, maybe it was made on a Monday or Friday. Monday they're hung over and Friday is liquid lunch. As stated earlier, my tin 110 is "Buck Solid"...maybe I got a mid-week build ;)
Have heard that potato vodka has quite a kick!!!!
Happy Monday...
Me.

Edit Add: BTW, I have never had a 110 wiggle to the point it was annoying. I've not had a lot of 'em (my current count is about a dozen). My 279 wobbles too much for me, but it is not a 110 and I'm thinking of sending it in. Anyway, that is not to say that I've not seen a 110 wiggler...guess I've just been lucky that, in 35 years of always having at least one, none I have owned exhibited this trait.
And, before any "flame mail" or posts head my way: As for the quality of the Idaho Buck Crew , my comment is nothing more than tongue in cheek...I have always been impressed with the quality of Buck. Even my recently aquired Sum Yung Guy Mantis is of surprisingly good quality.

Back in December 2004, when I purchased a couple of the "Made in China" Model 728 Whitetail Deer Collectibles, I noticed that there was a circular "button" of plastic on the back of the sheath strap's snap. Never having seen something like that before, I peeled it off. There was adhesive on the back. It was stuck to the bottom part of the snap of the sheath strap, the one that would otherwise be resting against the wood of the handle, to protect it.

I think that you could duplicate the same thing by stacking three or four pieces of scotch tape together, then cutting out a circle from the center, and placing it over the back of the snap. Another option, if you perceive some "extra room" in your 110 sheath (I couldn't find any 'spare room' in my Buck 110 Commemorative tin's nylon sheath... ;)), would be to get some felt tape. It already has adhesive on it's back, and you just cut a circle out of it, and stick it to the back of the snap. Most hardware and "arts & craft" stores carry it.

Ok, when are you getting your "blade wobble?" Is the blade wobbling when it's closed and when it's opened, only when it's closed, or, only when it's opened?

I have noticed that the few of my Buck 110 Commemorative Tin knives, that I've checked, have side-to-side blade wobble when they're closed, but, when they're opened, they lock up as tight as a vault. I can perhaps see blade wobble potentially causing some rattling, when it's being carried closed, in its sheath, but that's about the limit of difficulty I can see in having a knife whose blade wobbles when it's closed.

Your mileage may vary, however.

Hey GeoThorn...
Saw your tip about the felt tape and went to the garage and got the fuzzy side of a one inch square Velcro stick 'em. Put it right over the internal snap hardware. Works perfect in the Wally Tin supplied horizontal sheath/pouch.
If the adhesive on the gig doesn't last, I'll hit it with some Gorilla Snot.
Thanks for the kick in the head!!! :D :D

I have a whole pad of the circular felt stickys that are meant for the bottom of things that you want to place on furniture. They really work well with older sheaths that don't have the protection. Ironically, the felt pad that came with a sheath I got with a 2004 custom 110 came off and I had to replace it with one of mine.

Ok, that is unusual. :( Um, did the Buck 110 Commemorative Tins have their shrink-wrap still intact...? I think that you may have bought damaged goods, if there was no plastic wrapping around the tins....

Hey Mike! I've seen those furniture felts on the rack at Home Depot. Great idea!

Is it still stickin' good or did you have to augment it with some glue? Guess the adhesive acts diff depending on if it is stuck to leather or nylon. Just wondering...

Oh, this is the 110 Tin thread...hmmm...ok, what can I say...nice tin design, great knife...yeah, got it...
Wish the keychain doo-hickey had the "BUCK KNIVES" logo gizmo engraved...
There...I have preserved the thread topic ;)

Yep! Still sticking! I just slapped it on there and wala! :D

:D And the 110 tin itself (not the tool inside) is made by Sum Yung Chik...the sister of Sum Yung Guy who made the Mantis.

Hi GeoThorn, My comments about blade movement (side to side) are with the blade open. But, you got me wondering......and sure enough it also has side to side play when closed.....Hmm:jerkit: .......so I started shaking and your right....it rattles enough to hear it....to funny:D . This tin can was sealed tight with shrink wrap when I got it. This one was a gift from my son and his wife, all of the tins I picked out were fine!!!!!

Hey John...
Did you take the knife out of the shrink wrapped tin before you shaked it and heard it rattle?????
