Buck 112 - pawn shop find, advice & opinions requested

I got a bundle of knives back from SPA, no email, followed by a bill [which was paid promptly]

Sometimes the order in which things happen gets out of whack.

rhino rhino You should receive an email when the knives are about to be serviced. Something like "Your package has been received by our Warranty department and will be processed promptly by our Warranty technicians." This process can take several weeks as the SPA is very busy/backlogged. My last shipment to the SPA was delivered 02/28/22. I have not received an email as of yet, but I expect it won't be much longer. I have sent multiple packages to the SPA and I would guess turn around time is around 10 weeks. A bit tough to accept, however the wait is well worth the service provided.

I mailed the package on 25MAR22. Anyone have experience on how long it takes to receive an email confirming receipt of the package?
I’ve used the Spa twice. The first time the confirmation email came about 10 weeks after I sent the knife.
The second time it came about 4 weeks after I sent the knife.
Seems sporadic to me but I was confident that they received it because the tracking indicated “Left At Reception Desk” or something like that.

Thanks for the information! That's what I am expecting, but I didn't have a sense for a time frame.

You're welcome but I should have noted that the first knife took about 11.5 weeks to arrive after I sent it. The second one took about 10 weeks to arrive after I sent it.

In other words, if the confirmation for the second knife was sent as soon as it went into service, it took them another 6 weeks to finish the work and get it back to me. I think the confirmation for the second knife was sent long before it actually went into service.

Here's a post I made on 2/19 predicting that the Warranty Department must have been getting caught up because I had already received the confirmation email after just 4 weeks. I received the knife 6 weeks later on April 1st.

These are not complaints. Just sharing my own personal experience.

FYI - The warranty department works by receive date (includes spa and blade replacement requests). For example, today they may be working on knives received on 3/14. Once they complete those, they move on to 3/15 and so on. Hopefully you have tracking on the knives you send in, so you know when it was received by Buck. You can occasionally call the warranty department to ask what day they are currently working on (don't flood them with calls though). This may give you an idea when your knife will be worked.

I just sent another email asking to add the scale replacement to my request.

rhino rhino do you know if they will put a 50th stamped blade in it? Not sure if this has been asked in another thread, I may have missed it.

No confirmation of receipt when I sent knives in, twice. I got them back :)

I have 2 knives at Buck (one for SPA, and one for re-blade) and I spoke to them yesterday. As of yesterday they were processing knives received the first week of March.
In my case I waited almost 4 weeks for the email confirmation.
Good luck.

EDIT:
Read your later posts, and see that you've since received the email. Cheers.

I'm getting excited!

Looking forward to seeing how this looks when it gets back from the spa. I had a 112 from the early 80s I sent for spa and it looked like a new knife when I got it back.
