Buck 112 - pawn shop find, advice & opinions requested

Update: a very nice young lady from Buck (I think her name was Sylvia) called me about my email. After a brief discussion, she left to find my knife. She called me back and the scale replacement is going to happen.

$25 total for the scales/inlays and the new blade, plus the spa treatment. I think that is very reasonable indeed!

When I get it back, photos are going to be an issue. I have to borrow SWMBO's mobile phone to take pics, but she is away on an extended trip, so there won't be any decent photos any time soon.

That is great news! She's gonna be a beauty!

Do you encounter anyone in your daily journeys that you could have take pictures and email them to you? They can do both from their smart phone while you're standing right there if they have a smart phone.

I'll do my best!

THE GOOD NEWS: the old two dot 112 arrived today and the transformation is spectacular! Hard to believe what I have now was once the sad relic left behind by Packrat. I am very happy with the results!

THE LESS GOOD NEWS: no camera to take decent photos.

I don't miss them! I suppose I did kill a little scrap of history, though.
You better watch out. Packrat did his carving on that 112 with his other knife. He might or might not take kindly to what has happened to his 112 that he gave up strictly due to hard times. Word to the wise.

It has drawn first blood! I was doing a little "maintenance shaving" yesterday and felt something a little weird on my cheek. This morning A had a very slight, very thin line of dried blood in the same spot, maybe one centimeter long.

In other news, I'm carrying it in the nylon sheath from my 112 LT hanging from my neck lanyard. I was concerned about the weight since it's so much heavier than the LT. I don't really notice the extra weight. It is lighter than it was because the Buck tech who worked on it very skillfully thinned the bolsters at an angle to remove the deep gouges in the brass. It feels good in the hand too.

Can we get some crappy photos?

That worked better than usual on my flip phone!
