I ordered a Custom 110 on November 13th and it arrived today. That was fast! It has sambar stag scales, nickel bolsters, no pins, and finger grooves with a BG-42 blade. I had a custom 110 made last year and as nice as it was this one exceeds it by leaps and bounds!! The blade is VERY sharp and finished flawlessly. The scales are as matched a pair as one could expect, and it all fits together perfectly. The blade is only a little stiff, but not for long!! Thank you Buck for a wonderful knife. It is very obvious that someone was paying close attention to detail and I just wanted to say it is very much appreciated. ;) ;)

Congrats Mike...enjoy that and the older stag 110 that I know that you scored on e-bay:). I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of mine with the damascus blade sans the FGs. Preston

Yeah, I got lucky on that one. I wasn't going any higher and I wasn't even home when the bidding ended. The last bidder just missed. I'm hoping it's as mint as it looks on Ebay. That's a no dot 110. ;)

It looked really nice, post pictures when you get those...Preston

Congrats on the delivery Mike!! Thats the same combination I ordered on the 17th. Got home today and there was a pink slip for a missed PO delivery.... could it be? But I also snatched a couple old 110's off ebay, so could be those.

What sheath did you get?

I got the nylon sheath, but I may swap it with a leather and use the nylon with a 110 I have with brass bolsters. I've got my eye on a couple of custom sheaths with suede linings. :)

These knives deserve a nice custom sheath. Post a pic or two when/if you get one.

What a coincidence! That's almost exactly what the BCCI 110 for December is!!! :D

One might almost think you were putting together a matched set...[with slightly different blades]... :)

Congratulations and that's great news! I ordered almost the same knife (same except I got the pins) on November 17, so I hope I get a package within the next few days. Thanks for the report.

I've seen pictures posted of some custom 110s. They look absolutely great.

Glad you like it, I think my wallet will grow lighter at some point. :)

Actually I've been planning this custom 110 for a long time now. When the new BCCI offering was disclosed I decided to still get the one I had planned for. The BCCI model will still be a very unique knife. Heck, next year I may get another 110 with stag scales with just a little different look, perhaps brass bolsters, pins, but without the finger grooves. :D :D

I want to place an order, but I like the look of the Elk scales on the Custom Shoppe site...but I also have two Sambar Stag scaled knives that look quite different from each other...one is very white (it's a second cut stag); the other is gray-ish, with speckles in it...I really like the white second cut Sambar Stag better than the speckled outer "bark" Sambar...

I think I like the look of Buck's Elk scales [whiter] better than the Sambar...at least from their site...

Have you taken any pics of your Sambar custom 110 yet??? ;)

If I can grab the digital camera away from my wife long enough to take a couple of shots I'll get them up on the web for you to take a look at. I just scored a mint no dot 110 with sambar stag scales off ebay so I want to get that one up as well when it arrives. :)

Here's the link to the custom 110 with samabar stag scales...

For some reason, I can't pull up the pics on Yahoo Photos in their original resolution; but it looks to me as though the Sambar there has a slight gray cast to it, and I can almost make out the little speckles in the white...It is attractive in its own way, but I think I will go for the Elk stag... :)

Thanks a bunch for the pics!!! ;) :D

Trax,
It has the specks that you mention but is not unlike other sambar stag scales that I've seen. It's fairly typical. It will be interesting to compare it to the sambar stag that is on the 110 from 30 some years ago.

Mike -

I think I've posted these before, but here are the two knives w/Sambar Stag I have.

The first is a "second cut" and I really like the look of it [the Sambar I mean] -

It has a few small speckles, just enough to let you know it's real stag, not plastic...

The second is a Sambar with the "bark" left on -

This one has the grayish cast to it, and lots of speckles.

They are both attractive, but I prefer the look of the smooth Sambar.

Trax,
This is purely a matter of preference. Both look good, but I personally like the more rugged look of the "bark" stag for the 110. If you're ever able to find a 110 with the "second cut" stag scales, be sure to post a photo. :D :D Having said all that, you've almost convinced me to start saving for an elk scaled 110. :D

Mike,

I kept looking for the older 110, then it hit me you havn't had time to receive it yet...DUH.

Really nice looking knife...that stag is very nice. Is it about the same on the other side? Also, I think that the champer/clip on the newer BG-42 blades are different that the reg. 110s. Could you see the difference? Trax would have noticed!!!

Trax, I think that you'll like the elk scales I have two with the elk. One was the last of a special from Sierra Trading Post and is not as good looking as the my other with damascus(probably was not wanted:grumpy:). Preston

Here are the two. Preston
