Plain Jane 113, in honor of August's BOTM...

I can't remember if I've posted this before, and it's kind of a crappy picture, but...

I bought this knife back around 1988, and it's basically been sitting the a closet, ever since. I never liked the nylon sheath, so recently, I got the bright idea of trying my hand at making a leather sheath for it. I guess it's OK for a first attempt. It reminds me of a girl I used to date......not real pretty, but completely functional.

Can I get information on the leather sheath please?
Thanks

Sure. I basically followed the steps in this video series.

I used 7/8 oz. vegetable tanned leather for the whole project, but a lighter weight for the keeper strap would have been a better choice. I changed my pattern a little from the one in the video, and turned the back over so the the smooth (hair) side of the leather is visible on the belt loop. This was my first leather project, and the main objective was for me to learn to the basics, and how to use the tools. The videos make the basics seem easy, but making a sheath that actually looks nice, is difficult, and I'm going to need a lot more practice.

And now, back to fixed blade Fridays! :)

....just staying home catching up on chores before winter sets in.
We usually go to the U.P. but since they started closing the bridge for the bridge walk, traffic is a nightmare, and I don't do holiday traffic.
The weekly Detroit commute is enough for me.

What's everyone else doing?
🤠
