Vanguards are one of my favorites to collect. They were new in the 1991 catalog but did not hit the stores until late that year so there are not as many 1991's to be found. Here is a 1991 (+) Vanguard in as nice of condition as you would like to find with a particularly attractive Dymondwood handle.

I love Vanguards, but must admit the first time I saw one in a Kmart in Kentucky I hated them. I was only out of high school for about a year and just thought it didn’t look like a Buck. 😂
 
The only thing i don't like about Vanguards is that you don't see enough of them.

This one is probably the coolest one that's regularly available.

The wood handle is pretty, but get it all bloody and you wish for a rubber or micarta handle.

Micarta handled Vanguard please.😎

That’s a beauty.I love my AG Vanguard. To be honest I’ve never had a problem with it get slippery.
