Buck Knives famous Joe Houser at OKCA Knife Show today!

Thank you kindly Dave. My pic was stuck inside the Ipad so when emailed to myself I couldn't manipulate it into a photo hostess.

My guess: Vintage steel cable/rope thimble of some sort (however google image doesn't show this using key word search). Perhaps a vintage longshoreman/mariner would have direct personal experience. I noticed a great many light impact marks on the thick rounded outside surfaces.

My pleasure Scott. Kind words encourage me so here is another look at the BCCI get together set, for which I am a ticket holder.

Marylin told me that the mangling was performed brilliantly by a friend. Unseen, the standoffs are anodized bright blue as I recall.

While Joe's outstanding wife was hand modeling this monster, Joe leaned in and told me that he always names knives that he builds and calls this one the Cuddler.

Rare for me to spend $ on clothing when there are knives to buy but, er, uh, well, um, the sales woman was well-skilled in her pitch. What a bargain.

OFF TOPIC, resin lockback kits that even I might be able to manage. Sold by two capable and charming children (brother and sister I believe).

Here it is. Anyone have a clue??

mystery object.frame.hook.jpg

Not a mystery at all. It's just a common automotive frame hook. Don't any of you guys tow or trailer vehicles? They come in a variety of similar shapes. Can be found on any tow truck also. They kinda insert and toggle into those oval holes you see on frame rails. Usually have a chain or strap attached. Sometimes it can be a good alternative to using an axle strap. This particular one is called an R-hook I believe. I've got a couple sets hanging out in the barn. ....I guess no one here shops at TSC (Tractor Supply Center)......:D

Who owns these BCCI knives? OK, who keeps these to sell to raise money for BCCI.

In case you didn't know, the couple in that photo manning the BCCI table is Bruce Dollinger and his wife Rosie. Bruce is one of the Board members of the BCCI and represents the club at many knife shows. He owns a printing company in the Bay area of California and is the one who prints the newsletters. He usually has left over Club knives and others for sale and I'm sure that the procedes go to the club and to help cover some of the show expenses.

For instance, a couple of years back, I bought the "Youth Award" knife from him that was supposed to have been awarded at the 2010 Atlanta Blade show. There were no displays that year in the "Youth" division, so the knife was given (by Joe Houser) to Bruce to sell to help defray the show expenses.

You are a well of knowledge.;) The newsletters are of excellent quality so Bruce Dollinger printing company does a great job. Both he and his wife seem like nice folks.

Dave got the BCCI question down to the two yard line, let me come in an fullback it over.

The BCCI is a NATIONAL organization with members on both coasts and across the middle and to the northlands and beyond the seas. Knife shows of the level of the OKCA are not everywhere, mainly in the eastern one third of the Nation. When a big show came an went from DFW, TX area I was sad. No big show for us Southwest guys.

Bruce does most of the BCCI flag waving and club table tending at the OKCA and actually other club business on the west coast, but he ventures to the Blade Show in Atlanta also. Others have been instrumental, especially BuckCustoms family, in running the BCCI table at other 'eastern' knife events. Sales at those events benefit the club, we do PAY for the knives, the custom BCCI accessories and a few non-knife Buck items. Profits go to the club to pay our costs for reserving the single sales and the several display tables and do the day to day cost of providing members services. Bruce has been a yeoman in doing this at both of the big events he attends. I would suggest, since this is a OKCA thread that a couple of you contact him next year an volunteer to do the club business for a few hours and give him a break, I could name names....... Joe and family help out BCCI at OKCA also, Joe acts more of a club member than a Buck employee during these big shows. FYI 300

Let me edit and add: Next OKCA show it would be a benefit to the forums and to the club if one of you western slope guys would take it on himself to provide photos for this forum and for the BCCI newsletter. (Thank you Oregon for what you did get to us this year) Pictures of all the Buck displays with displayer, the BCCI area and any knife stars present such as - whats that guys name....Leroy something. You know what I mean take a camera and make a documentation of the event. Then send the photos in along with a write up to be printed in the newletter. You can wait till you look for knives but be careful to document it well, after you get those deals. 3B

I spy a nice 121 w/fish scaler and sheath. That would be my first choice...

You need that one. It is probably the only 121 you don't own! :) :)

Betcha Bruce would sell it to you. Bet you.

I was looking for the new Dorado in S30V but the new stuff only finds its way to the show after dealer inventory starts running uphill.

No I don't need it, I have a full set. Want, is a different story. I love the early fish scaler models...

These are all great points. Not sure if Bruce would want some newbie types helping him at the OKCA.
