Buckles and blades

Love this thread, glad to see it getting some traction again! Young lady just starting this BLM mustang.

Sorry for the thread hijacking, but I wished to say anyone wanting to know more about BLM mustangs, and and their plight from both sides of the issue should check out the documentary "Unbranded". I know its on Netflix, while I may not agree with all their choices, it is worth the watch. Epic journey.Again sorry for the hijack

Edit: there I don't feel as bad now, lol. Old Winchester buckle I found, wish I had a Winchester branded knife to go with it.

I've seen this same buckle before, I think it was either a Raintree or a kinny co.
I'm leaning towards kinny Co.

Btw I have two more buckles, but I'll have to post them tomorrow.

That Unbranded documentary is well worth the watching. Manuelito wears the US freeze brand, as do all BLM mustangs.

Being a Texicano (Mex-Tex and/or Tejano), my clothing choices everyday usually have Mexican, Texan and/or western items. Here are a couple of my favorite buckles. I own a dozen+ belts (most made by me) and each one has a distinctive (mostly sterling silver or stainless) western-type buckle.

The sterling buckle with the cactus, shrubs and running W (branding of the King Ranch) is an homage to the "Kineño" Mexican cowboys that work(ed) in what once was the largest cattle ranch in Texas and U.S. My mother was born in Kingsville, TX, where the King Ranch is located. The knife shown with it is an Arkansas Hunter (4 1/4" closed), superbly designed by Mr. AG Russell, "based on a knife made during the 1920s by one of the smaller knife companies that did not survive the Great Depression". An outstanding lock-back!

The filigreed sterling silver longhorn buckle below was made in Guadalajara, Mexico and it is paired with a 1975 Schrade Texas Longhorn "Rawhide" stockman. I made that carved belt (with oak leaves and acorns) some 15 years ago.

I don't wear any cool belt buckles, (like so many of the ones in this thread), but did add this to my collection recently for it representing such an iconic American industry. The knife is a basic little workman's knife made by the defunct Camillus knife firm. Both were picked up by me recently on one of my flea market excursions.
American steel and American knives, they just seem to go well together ;)

Thanks have that exact same buckle! Not sure where I put it though.

These are the only buckles I have, being heirlooms. I wore this first belt for a while but it started to split so I retired it.

Grandpa Leroy's belt and buckle with his 8ot.

Uncle Paul's belt and buckle with his swiss army knife and a knife pouch with his (and my) initials. This was my first real knife. Uncle Paul's belt is unfortunately too small for me. It's a beautiful belt and buckle.

Grandpa Larry's buckle with a random knife of mine. I don't have a knife of his.

A few years back I was traveling on business and a Cowboy was sitting next to me on the plane. When he got up to go to the toilet I noticed his big buckle said something like "World Champion Bull Rider". When we got up to de-plane I said I wanted to shake his hand as I had never meet any kind of World Champion, so we shook hands and he looked pleased. John

I've had the privilege of roping with some World Champions. Not that they'd remember me, but I won't forget them. :D
