I have always been a fan of cheap blades that work. I have a few cheap scandinavian blades that I have been using lately. I use knives for four reasons mainly. Chop, Split, Shave wood, and for cutting food. With these size knives chopping is out so my needs are simple and don't require 1/4" blades at $150-$300. I have used the Mora 2000 in the mountains in Big bear CA as well as at home preparing fire. I recently used the Mora 2000 in Peru while on a Randall's Adventure Training class. We saw many blades come and go on that trip. I used the 2000 for fish cleaning, fire prep and cutting vines for shelter building. Much of this was while my hands were wet. That always adds a special degree of saftey. It performed like a champ. Here are some cheap Scandis that work well for a variety of outdoor tasks. Feel free to add to the collection, but they must be cheap!

Never mind the knives. Who's the young lady with the belly ring? Wow....and it looks like she cooks, too!

Here's my Frost's SL-1 and the leather sheath I made for it. My first sheath. I didn't make it deep enough, so I'm redoing it with plans to add a firesteel loop.

Good pictures. One of these days I will snap a shot of my Scandies. Really, who would ever need more knife than these great blades offer?

.......Huh?? What... sheath? You mean, there's other objects pictured besides the cute young lady? :D

That looks like a BATAC in the pic with your "buddy" standing next to the stream.

Bear, I must say you have excellent taste in knives! Your choices suggest strongly that you have your head screwed on straight. The particular knife you show in your outstretched palm and again held by the young lady operating on hotdogs is the same model my wife and I keep handy at our table where we use it for a myriad of things. We just wipe it off regularly to keep it clean, then it goes back into its sheath where it's always within easy reach. I keep one like it hanging from the dashboard of my van, too. Fine knives don't have to cost a week's pay, and the Scandinavian people understand that. Many of my countrymen don't.
