Reputable internet dealer...hmmmm...NGK comes to mind, but they probably don't have the ALBLK. Check the bay, look for Idealoutdoors. They have em running at about $ 45 or so, without shipping. P/N 1595ALBLK. That's where I got my black aluminum Bump. No problems dealing with them, either.

Thanks. I did a quick look at the dealers I'm used to dealing with (NGK, gpknives) and neither one stocks it. Guess I'm heading to the bay.

What are the odds of there being a Bump with G10 scales, but Sandvik steel? Thomas?

I'm perfectly satisfied with the 13C26 (I can get it sharper than anything else), and I have no doubts about the 14C28N, but I'd prefer G10 scales over aluminum or plastic (akulon?). What do you think?

There is such a Bump is is the Speed Spec Bump 1596SVBL. There is a picture of one on the first page of this thread, its the one with the G10 handles and silver blade. If you ever see a bump with that color combo it is Sandvik. Some of them were mismaked as having S30V. There were very few pieces produced and they are pretty hard to come by.

Yep, that's what I was looking for. Didn't read carefully enough.

Now, if I can only find one for the same price as a regular speed bump. I have a feeling that ain't happening.

I had been holding back from getting a speed bump because I didn't like the handle. Now that I know that there is an aluminum alternative, I must have one.

I wasn't all that keen on the handle shape either, then I got one from Vivi's Giveaway, and now I'm hooked big time on the Bump Series of Kershaws. They're kick ass knives; my Aluminum Scaled Speed Bump rides with me wherever I go, except the shower, of course!

I should have been more clear. I have no problem with the handle shape (I have a green Ti bump and love it). I didn't like the handle materials that are on the speed bump and I didn't want to spend the dough on the spec bump as I'm not a huge fan of coated blades. I didn't realize that aluminum handled speed bumps were an option, now I do.

I have read several posts about thumb stud rattling, when knife is closed. Is it general feature of constuction or just one defect piece? In my opinion thumb stud is made from two pieces screwed together. So it may be tightened if needed (but hexagonal shape needs rotation at 1/6 turn)

Yes they rattle a little when closed and no there isn't anything you can do about it. They don't rattle when they are in your pocket or when open. The thumb studs are all one size and seem to be buld for the clearance needed when a coating is applied to the blade. The Spec Bumps don't rattle at all.

Do any of you know why the spec bumps don`t rattle? My aluminum handle bump drives me crazy (rattle rattle) But god help me I love that thing I carry it most of all my EDCs.
Also I once saw a hand rubbed blade finish speed bump in the maint.tink. and I have wanted to know how to remove the black plastic part that holds the spring for the lock after you take out the studlock ?

Part of the rattle is the thumb stud. The other part is probably the torsion bar. Tear it down and grease the torsion bar cavity. That should help.

I hate to see a family member squirm when they think they have all the answers ;), but had to laugh with your reaction to robertmegar's pic spiral. Priceless.

Seems like there are a few one offs floating around from time to time. Hell it seems I'm the one giving them away most of the time.

These things happen. I have yet to see this mythical blue Bump. I suspect it was a one off/proto instead of even a short run.

I grimace to think of what is laying around the factory, long forgotten and collecting dust. :D

The blue was a one off for sure.

Seems like there are a bunch of those around, just collecting dust.

Holy cow. It's amazing how all the bling of the Tyrade can get lost in a black on black scheme.

I feel like a jackass now...my Tyrade is one of my favorites.

Go figure!

I'd buy one!
:D

Make tip up an option on that one. *ducks*
