Burl Blocks Contest - 6 Drawings/6 Winners

Sure, panch. As in panch phoran and panch dal.

I've been doing a lot of Indian cooking this last year. Started with South Indian
vegetarian and keeps moving around.

Panch means "five", I don't know in what language, but it seems to be northern.

Panch phoran is a traditional Bengali mixture of equal parts whole: black mustard seeds, nigela (or kalonji), fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds and ajwain. Tossed in and sauteed in a little hot oil it adds a very interesting, kind of mellow, changing with each bite taste to various dishes.

Panch dal is a mixture of five different dals, soaked and cooked with some tumeric and cayenne then, after it's soft, add some onions, tomatoes, etc. sauteed in some oil and cook a bit more. Even better a day later in my opinion. It's been growing on me.

No, I'm not a vegetarian, but I really like vegetables and legumes...

Working on my first knife and I need some wood for the handle. I'll try to get some pics of my WIP asap.

This is a great drawing.
My mother, when referring to idiotic people, used to say "Talks like a man with a paper butthole". I was never really sure what that meant, but you can get an idea.

Well. Let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. According this morning's sample, it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long weighing approximately six hundred pounds.

Ok, someone is going to have to explain a little bit more about the ants... I have ants in my house, I dont need them in my head as well. Also, does anyone really eat quacamole?

I'm in...
... and secretly sketching up my first folder in CAD - a sweet little balisong - but it may be a while before I get the stones to try building it. :D

Count me in Mark.

Got my first damascus blade almost ready to heat treat and need a gorgeous burl block for the handle. That's what life is all about.

Oh yeah..."How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?"

Tomorrow right around this time we will be making the first drawing.
The drawing will be repeated each following evening until all the blocks are gone. You have six chances to win because there will be six drawings.

If you want in on the contest just make a post in this thread. Only one entry allowed, but you still have six chances.
Read the first post in this thread for the rules.

These are not reject blocks. These are some of the good stuff.

Sign me up!! Thanks for the chance.

Interesting fact: Tomorrow I will be at dekers making some damascus for the first time:thumbup:
pictures will probably be posted sometime shortly after

Take care ladies and gents

Please count me in... let's see. In three weeks, after the broken ribs heal, I will be relining my welding forge and making a 3-steel Damascus billet. THe billet will be just right to complement the beautiful burl I am about to win. :-)

For the first drawing I went to random.org and used their random number generator to pick a number. I put the range to be between 1 and 52, the number of posted entries. The random number selected was #5

dsgibbs1 you are the winner of the first drawing if you claim your block prior to 5pm PST Sunday 4/11.

To claim your prize you need to post which block you have selected here in this post. If the prize is unclaimed we will extend the contest another day and have another drawing.

Next drawing is tomorrow at 5pm.

Mark, might I still be able to enter?

The square route of a piece of pie inversely corresponds to how hungry you are.

My apologies, I wrote Saturday but meant Sunday 4/11 to claim the prize.
You win one of the redwood pieces. I need to know the letter of the block.
I will need your mailing address so I can send you your block.
