Bush bash pics

Looks like a great time was had by all. Really great to see the kids getting involved and learning to enjoy the outdoors.

Looks like a great time! I'm hoping there will be a nice turnout this summer in my neck of the woods. Thanks for sharing the pics, although it's made the waiting for my Laconico that much harder!

Great pics guys!
Man, we had a great time, and truly enjoyed meeting everyone. What a great group of guys, and gals!!!

Guns, bows, knives, fatwood, mountains, does it get any better?!

Sasha, I'm glad your nephew had a good time, he definitely seemed to be having fun. He sure was a natural with that bow...

I hope there is another one, I would love to actually stay and camp out a couple of days. Coming for the day was fun, but you miss out on a lot.

I think I have a couple of pics to contribute, but those might have to wait until after work.

Ah, what the hell, I'll be a little late for work.

My wife took all but a couple of these pics, as I was too busy having fun with everyone. Most of these are probably a bit redundant, with all the great pics that have already been posted. Oh well, I know you guys like pics...

Shoot'n the big one...

So what would you call this? Skeet or trap? Either way, I had a ton of fun doing this, it was my first time. Thanks again, for all who brought the ammo and guns and clays!

great pics Nick... i love that spider shot... the shooting pic came out nice too...

Really great pics guys! That area is so beautiful, and of course hanging out with cool people shooting, playing with knives etc. yep I'm jealous. And Mike you scored a really nice blade too!

Looks like an awesome time guys. Despite some of the rain, you managed to get some really cool scenery with that fog. That was a lot of fire power you guys had with you!

That looks like a great time! I wish I could have made it. We need to do a NorCal trip!

Great pictures, Mike. Thanks for sharing, and for putting forum names to faces. It certainly looks like a good time was had by all.

Stingray,

It was great to meet you and your family! I would describe that shooting activity as closer to trap than skeet. At a trap range, the clays are typically launched from one location in front of you (which we obviously wouldn't want John doing:eek:) and depart at various moderate angles. In skeet, the clays are launched from two locations and cross in front of you. More like passing shots than "going away" shots. Sporting Clays offers the greatest variety of clay target types and shooting angles---including "bouncers" along the ground (rabbit imitations).

I hope you can camp with us next time!:D

kage,

A couple weeks ago I started trying to contact one of the fellows who owns some land in NorCal that may offer hunting opportunities, as well as camping. The idea would be to meet during deer or quail season. We're working on it but by all means join in if you are interested.

Ray,

When you get a break from making those great knives and have a chance to read this, I think I have a leftover lantern and chair that belong to you. I tried to look up your phone number when I passed through Visalia but couldn't find a listing. I'll try to get them back to you at the next meetup.

DWK2: I might be interested and thanks for the invite. I haven't hunted in years and my lowest caliber rifle for big game is 300 win mag or 338 lapua, so that'll make a mess of the meat. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any upcoming trips, though.

I'd be bringing a .338 winmag. I don't know if there's enough room for long-range shooting but, if so, that Lapua would be the ticket. A year ago I almost ordered a 338 Allen Express, which is based on an expanded Lapua case with shoulders moved forward and squared out. Gets another couple hundred fps.

As you know, if we hit them in the boiler room, we won't lose much edible meat.;)
