Bushcraft community hate towards non-bushcraft knives? What's up with this bushcraft craze? 😂

I mean, you know what most people look for in a “bushcraft” knife. Why join a focused group like that in order to discuss something like an AK-47 field knife? Alternatively, you could just lurk and gain all of the info you want. See: Me. For the record, the Apocalypse is basically worshipped by the DBK guys, so it stands to reason that their fans would be all about it.

Ironically AK-47 Field Knife is way better better buy than Apocalypse, but insulting a dude for owning a knife named AK-47 while you own a knife named Apocalypse is just pure irony 🤣

Knife named after a gun... well that gun is real, popular and reliable.
Apocalypse... mall ninja stuff.

Both are awesome knives tho, both in their own aspects. But name-wise, I think Apocalypse is worse offender than AK-47 field knife.

That's because I've eradicated most of them, primarily with this:

NOW: it's a Party!! 👍

I wouldn't lose any sleep unless they can check the block "Spent the night in a Holiday Inn Express with Mors Kochanski". Me...I'm just the bastard child of Cody Lundin and Dave Canterbury!

Taiwanese-produced factory knife in 3V vs. a custom knife in Elmax from Lithuania? They occupy two entirely different categories. It’s hard to say one is a “way better buy” than the other. They appeal to two entirely different markets.

Personally, I'm enjoying the bushcraft craze.

I get to watch as people justify using old school methods because they think they are somehow better than modern methods of camping... Because taking 3 hours to build a shelter out of trees you cut down using a 10 lb canvas tarp under which you'll put your 10 lbs of bedroll and wool blankets so you can sleep next to a fire you wouldn't need in the first place if you'd brought a 4 lb down sleeping bag and a nylon tent obviously makes you a better woodsman.

Thankfully for everyone that likes to spend time in the woods we've generally gone away from those old school methods that would surely ruin popular camping and backpacking areas.

Plus, you get to find out how the Saami people had everything just right so you need to do it their way, even if you live in Florida and don't tend herds of reindeer.

Social media in general and FB in particular S*CKS!!!

I personally see no redeeeming social value in particpating in them. I boycott them and encourage everyone else who will listen to do likewise

I do have a Twitter account BUT only use it as a newsfeed from LEGITIMATE information sources but I do not "tweet" or "retweet" anything on the platform because I do not see the value in doing that.

Does it make the info more legitimate because you retweet or "like it"? I think not.

I deleted my FB and Instagram accounts LONG AGO and fortunately/happily am unable to look at any info on those sites because I do NOT have an account.

NO way I"m giving them my email, phone number and/or name (real or not) to troll for their financial benefit w/o ANY material benefit to me in return.

If NO ONE would use FB, IM, WhatsApp, Occulus or any other FB owned entity, maybe FB (and the umbrella comapny Meta) would go the way of MySpace which FB supplanted.

IMO, the world would be a better place if it did.

End of rant . . . ;)
I feel like forums in general, including this one, qualify as social media. The difference is typically that forums often have a narrower scope and that forums pre-date the term "social media".

If they want to "boondock on the moon": that just means more space at the KOA for me...

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's the really big bushcraft group on Facebook where people post knife picks without any context, along with other shiny, unused kit to show how cool they are and talk about how awesome their bugout bag is. Most of the rest of the posts are people complaining about the endless torrent of knife picks, with the occasional person posting about doing bushcraft. About five times a day someone asks "what's the best knife" and gets a ton of questionable advise. There are also some exceptionally dickish people in that group that their own dog probably doesn't even like, who's main reason to be there is to crap all over everyone for any reason. Social media is a special place...

People who have time to hang out at discord servers = too much free time = too much overthinking = arrogance. Just do what pleases you and works for you. You don’t owe anyone to prove yourself.
