Busse Combat, How to Right a Wrong!

Rick J: Again, which Busse knife. Many of us have sent knives off to get sheaths made. Once that has been done the particular maker may have a template to work from. So if you let us know the specifics perhaps someone here who has had a sheath made for the same blade could help you out. :)

An ASH1? Well if you ordered it off the site it should be a while to get the knife. Perhaps someone will have one ready before they actually ship. ;)

I think you are right on, let someone else send in their knife first then the Sheath maker will have a model to work from.

Again, just to paint a good picture, if it worked out as Busse says on their site, you would'nt have to do all that, I will get a sheath after I get the knife, just wish Busse would correct that very misleading statement on their site.

RickJ

Hey RickJ
Ash1's are a whole 2 weeks away still:)
One of the Sheath guys will get an ASH1 before us no doubt, let Amy know about the statement on the site if you think it's a problem
Best regards

I think that, if Busse started sending free knives in all makes and models to its recommended sheath makers, there'd be a lot of folks clamoring to become Busse sheath makers. :p

"THE WRONG!Busse's site says it provides knives to the sheath dealers so all you have to do is order the sheath."

I gotta get on that list. The cost of these knives is killing me. :D:D:D:D

I have been buying one of each new knife that comes out and I spend a small fortune on just that. I cant imagine trying to buy some of the older models with the way their prices have risen.

Maybe I am reading it wrong, but I am not reading that every maker on their list has every knife.

Ok! I placed an order for a knife, got a confirmation order was received, good! then I go to one of the recommended Sheath Dealers on Busse's site to order a Sheath.

THE WRONG!Busse's site says it provides knives to the sheath dealers so all you have to do is order the sheath. In other words it is pre-fit to the knife you order from Busse...

RickJ

Show me where it is written that Busse provides knives to sheath makers. I don't see that statement.

YES: Many sheath makers have several Busse Combat knives on hand.
NO: Busse Combat does not provide each sheath maker with each knife model as it is released unless the sheath maker BUYS one.

Misleading? Not really... Also, if Kydex is the material that you wish your sheath to be made from, the best fit will come from using your knife. This is not quite as true for leather as far as I know.

IF you are looking for a sheath for the ASH-1 or ASH-1 LE as ordered from the website; these knives have not been released yet to anyone, so of course no sheath maker has one available yet for making sheaths with yet. BTW... "two weeks" is an old joke 'round here. It will be somewhat longer than this until they begin to ship, but of course you won't be billed until roughly 10 days or so before the anticipated shipping date for your order.

I think that RickJ read into the website text the idea that sheath makers get models in advance to fill orders alongside the knife orders.

Again, I can see how the wording might be interpreted that way, but that just isn't the way it is!

RickJ, if you find a loophole in the system, let us know. We all want ASH-1 sheaths too! :D

It doesn't say they have every model. Either way, the knives are still months out. Its not the end of the world!

Please tell me where on the Busse Combat website that it is stated that Busse provides knives to sheath makers. I can't find it... Sheath makers have to buy their knives from Busse like everyone else.

What I did find is this:

All of them have some models, but as far as I know none have ALL of the models, and it isn't stated on the site. Nor does Busse Combat know which models the sheath makers may or may not have on hand. Have you tried all of the sheath makers on the list?

The RIGHT: Most sheath makers have several knives on hand to make sheaths. Many have different models from each other. Busse Combat states that they do not provide sheaths for their knives.

The WRONG: Not reading the statements correctly on the website, then jumping on the Busse Combat sub-Forum & stating misinformation as FACT, thereby leading to a negative spin on the thread.

Again, I looked for the statement that you quoted. IF you can, please post it, and I'll happily apologize to you and amend my post. :)

Jaxx,

I think that for people that are not familiar with how Busse Combat works in reality, that line on the web-site could be interpreted as reality. If I had never heard of Busse Combat before, I would take that line to mean that "any one of these makers listed on my site can make you a sheath without you sending it in".

If you are new to Busse, you don't know that there are hundreds of different sized blades, often within the same exact category.

Oh, and your large sized text makes it seem like you are always yelling.

In the past, the sheath makers have NOT received new model knives before anyone else.

.

I agree. It is another example of how buying a knife from the Busse group is not like ordering an item from the Land's End catalog. It is simply NOT easy for those new folk unfamiliar with the vagaries of the Busse business model and Web presence.

Chuddy has an ASH1 and is making me a sheath right now.

I meant an ASH-1 CG or LE off the site. No one has those yet.

Chuddy wouldn't happen to have an ASH-1 SE, would he?

Oh, and Jaxx's text size is not a problem for me as long as he's not using all caps.

Caps = Yelling. Big Font = A Service to Older Eyes.

What?? Could you please speak up? I can't hear you. ;) :D ... Sorry, #2 sized print on my 'puter is tiny, so I use #3... but I'm not yelling... I'm just old, sonny. LOL :D

Too bad there's no #2.5... That would be perfect.
