Busse for sale/trade forum?

I have an idea! From now on anyone who is selling a non-Busse knife can make sure they put 'non-Busse' in the title of their 'for sale' thread. That way, those folks who don't like to see Busses during their search for other knives can just do a basic search with 'non-Busse' as their search criteria. Only those non-Busse knives will show up because every seller did their part to make it more convenient for a select few.

There is no "Bogging" of the forums- the forums are operating just fine. Bogging would indicate poor performance, and slow loading times. This is one of the fastest forums I have visited.

The fact remains- clicking and scanning pages of post titles is quick and easy. Some people might be poor readers if they find it difficult to click and scan through several pages of titles. I can read through 10+ pages of sale threads in a couple minutes.

The root of the matter is, that a few people don't want to see Busse Sale threads for whatever reasons. They then turn around and ask that a large portion of BFC members be stuck in a room they have no intention to ever visit.

It is pretty selfish. A few complain about one brand getting sold more than others on the forum, so instead of scrolling past them, they want them moved to a place they don't go?

So if I don't like seeing something you post, I should complain and get you moved somewhere I don't have to scroll past your thread? What kind of precedent is that?

I have the same right to sell my production knives where they will get the most views as every other gold and above member. Every member posting knives for sale is an individual. Lumping a large portion of individuals together and shuttling them off to the ghetto because you don't want to buy their knives is pure BS.

Why not post more Non-Busse knives for sale?

Leave it alone....there is nothing wrong with the current system. I have often bought non Busse knives while looking for them.....I have not been to the Buck sub forum nor do I intend to......that was voluntary segregation and if they don't want Buckites in there world so be it. If Rat F posted a Buck in the general forum I would look at it,but to stick people in the corner is uncalled for. How lazy do you have to be to click to the next page and read titles of sales threads.....if it interest you ...read it...if not....move on.

Another vote to leave it as is.

I find this nausiating.......trying to placate the whining few.

"Overwhelming traffic" "bogging up"

Just logged onto bladeforums. Took me 50 seconds to browse the production knives for sale forum. That includes the time to check out two or three ads that caught my eye.

You admins really need to do something to speed things up, 50 seconds is way too long We only have so much time on this earth. :p :p

I feel that the overwhelming traffic in Busse knives is bogging up the forums as I mentioned.

I'm looking for a fixed blade and all these dang folders are clogging up the forums! It took me an extra 12 seconds to wade through all these folders!

Sorry, just being a wise ass. No hard feelings, Oupa.

I have no interests in these knives at this point in time, I'm a paying member, and I buy knives off the for sale forum. I think it would be short sighted and foolish to segregate them to their own area. If they want to go then that is ok, but otherwise is just bad all the way around.

Seems as though this discussion is going on all over BF, you guys should check out these threads,
Spark posted this in the Busse combat forum:

If you can get through the first 3 pages of sarcasm and instigation, page 4 has some more comments on the Busse only sales...

And heres one on how the Buck guys feel about the Buck only sale thread...

I fail to see why you care about it at all, considering that you said you only use the Buck forum . . .

Even if they do make a new forum, I will not use it. Others are welcome to do so.

If things suck, people go elsewhere. I like to offer a knife here first because I feel the folks here really appreciate the particular knife I have to offer. E-bay sucks, but I would hate to just go for the money because it sucks less than here. The exchange is for knife sales and the other forums are for discussion. Let's keep this a premier site for fine knife purchases and a place to further the intrest in each of our individual knife interests.

When the new forum is made and if you continue to sell Busse/Swamp Rat/ Scrap Yard knives in the wrong forum the Exchange mods will probably move it.

I am against being forced into a sub forum 100%. Spark has modified the rules of behavior in the exchange and they seem quite fair to me. Spark, I suggest that these new rules be given a few months to gain hold in our minds. Old habits die hard so it will take a bit for some of the chatter to subside, as thatMguy has stated, we have probably all been guilty in the past. Let the mods of the exchange evenly enforce them across the board and then see if this "bogging" and "cluttering" can be a mere memory. I agree that the free bump and non-essential chatter that goes on in these threads is a problem, I submit that it is "the" problem. A good majority if not all of us are adults and I think we should act like it. If the rules says no free bumps and idle chatter then there should be none tolerated. Give the offenders a gig in the system and let that weed them out.

I see that my thread in the exchange has been metioned a few times. I think what I have done is not all that cluttered. The items for sale are in the very first post. There is no need to read all the other posts if you want to know what I have for sale. When things are sold, I move the text and pictures to a new post as an update and mark them sold in red. Nothing hard to understand and it keeps my stuff confined to one thread and preserves the info for those who like to research historical sales prices. I am not saying all should do it this way or that it is the best way, I just decided to do it this way because I felt it would help reduce the amount of threads I would be tossing out into the exchange.

So as a long time paying member and blade forums supporter, I say no to a Busse For Sale sub forum and yes to letting the rules and enforcement of those rules be given a chance to work out the "problems". To create a sub forum without doing so is ill advised as I see it. What say you?
