Busse Pikal

NOw that would be badass and I would be all over it.

In the meantime my modified GW would do.

Sorry Progunner I should have clarified. Pikal is a self defense style that is gaining some popularity in recent days. It stresses thrusts over slashes and usually utilizes reverse grip edge in mentallity. being a point driven method it treats the edge as secondary to be used to clear limbs when a thrust is impeded and then continue a stabbing pattern. Southnarc from Shivworks gace the example of a "Sewing machine pattern".Southnarc has some videos on youtube if you want a better explanation.

sorry forgot to add. Most blades that are tailored for this style are small 3-4 inch blades with a modified wharcliffe that naturally faces the user and resembles a large fang.

I could be persuaded. Would this be a folder pikal?

A pikal knife would ideally have to be a fixed blade for me. It is not everyones cup of tea but I sure do prefer them over all other small fixed blades. Ray Floro also uses the RGEI (Reverse Grip Edge In) methodology. James Keating's Drawpoint Method is also directly applicable.

I actually prefer my Pikal knives on the smaller side under 3" blade so that I can have them on me at all times. It does not necessarily have to be a Wharnie type blades so long as the tip is lined up properly in relation to the grip.

Interesting. I imagine you'd have a bit of explaining to do to an LEO if stopped with one of those folders, like when he holds it in a normal grip for the handle ergonomics, why the edge is on the spine. The farther away from a normal folder some of these things look, the more they get scrutinized. I do like the emphasis that the technique can cross over to anything like a ball point pen. I would hate tot run into him in a dark alley though. Talk about tenderized meat.

It's a great design. But it'd have to be a fixed blade for me too unless there is some super dooper no fail lock mechanism I am unaware of. I think Spyderco has a folder pikal.

Spyderco has a pikal folder called the P'kal. I like the idea but lately I have had little trust in any folder lock. I mean especially if the blade is facing my fingers. That is the only real flaw in that particular folder in my eyes.I know it is probably a one in a million change that it will close on my fingers but I still do not want to take that chance. I really just wondered what kind of monster Jerry would make if he decided to make one. I mean there are so many variations in almost every style blade from Busse combat. I mean would it basically be a sharpened railroad spike you could use to remove drywall?? LOL I can't even imagine the specs on something like that. I would definitely want it fat, satin, with a full height grind. My ideal is a 4" Blade, 8-9" overall, .270 Thickness, Satin, Full Height Grind, G10 Scales, and something no one else has included yet on a Pikal knife I know of...a Skull Crusher. All I know is if it was ever made I know it would probably be Infi insanity.Bwahahahah!!!

As for names I like the
Hellfang
NPF (Nuclear Pikal Fang)

Razorback would be quite the appropriate name for this particular design

I think serrations and wicked looking karambits would probably bring more scrutiny than a reverse edge knife. Most people I show it to just kinda scratch their head in confusion :D and don't even think much of it

Because it is a point driven method...it can cross over to things like pens, short sticks, kubatons, redbull cans, rolled up magazines, etc.....

I would like to see a Busse Folder sometime. Pikal? Zero interest.

It would set a record as the slowest selling Busse of all time.

Satin Yes  But no Fatty and skull crusher for me please. I would prefer it to be 1/8" or less. Also no skull crusher because my thumb is placed on the butt to help control and direct the tip orientation.

In the meantime....this will be my INFI Pikal. I will get around to replacing the handle and evenly spacing out the rivet holes someday.

I highly doubt that.... Especially if done properly. Besides, It would be kinda hard to top the Scotch Dispenser :D

Also, the RGEI grip utilizes a convulsive grip with a locked wrist requiring only gross motor skills. The manipulation of a folder in most cases requires more fine motor skills which goes out the window in a stressful situation. I just have much more faith in fixed blade vs a folder.
