Busse Pikal

The Tac handle is comfortable with a reverse grip.

Pikal is a design that has limited popularity. Scotch dispenser was a necker utility knife, not a martial arts knife with backwards blade. Pikal could easily top it. :D

I think serrations and wicked looking karambits would probably bring more scrutiny than a reverse edge knife. Most people I show it to just kinda scratch their head in confusion :D and don't even think much of it

Because it is a point driven method...it can cross over to things like pens, short sticks, kubatons, redbull cans, rolled up magazines, etc.....

Oh I agree, Kerambits and to a lesser extent serrations would really raise a red flag, at least around here.

I use my EDC reverse grip knife for utility type chores almost everyday.

The TAC along with most other handles all work. It is just that the edge is facing the wrong direction and point orientation is all wrong for RGEI.

I have been looking at the SARSquatch for it's pikal potential... I like the neutral sweep of the butt of the handle, point alignment is center of blade, check, some potential there for me.

I can use the HellRazor, but it's too big to carry everydaylegally here, and the grip causes some offset of the tip when held RGEI... not the best solution for me...

You are one of the select few who like a reverse grip. Then again, I am broke as a joke so maybe it would be good for Jerry to release a knife I don't want. :D

Yes, I do sometimes use my knife in a reverse grip for utility chores. But just because a knife has a reverse grip does not necessarily mean that it has to be held in that grip for utility work. It can still be held fairly comfortably with the edge facing forward. It is actually quite comfy with a variety of other grip options. But of course RGEI is still it's specialty.

NuclearWinterRat1,

Spyderco's P'kal folder; should the lock ever fail; will close towards the meaty lower part of your palm and the tang will stop or slow that from happening (making for a painful pinch instead of a nasty cut).

Sounds like the Sus Scrofa, with its butt-end ground flush to the scales, would serve your pikal-based needs. And Skunk is selling them at the Company Store for less than the cost of a P'kal folder and P'kal trainer.

Satin Yes  But no Fatty and skull crusher for me please. I would prefer it to be 1/8" or less. Also no skull crusher because my thumb is placed on the butt to help control and direct the tip orientation.

In the meantime....this will be my INFI Pikal. I will get around to replacing the handle and evenly spacing out the rivet holes someday.

Ban that is hands down awesome work and it looks highly functional. Going to have to hit you up for a mod and figure out a good pocket sheath for it. :D

Here is another teaser video of REM2 (reverse edge methods) from Southnarc/Shivworks that we offer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEgXk29TV0M&feature=related
Its funny a few years back most people scoffed at this methodology, and the "upside down knives" we make.. I guess its catching on now;-)

Yep, so very true! Good to see you here Trace  I am obviously a big fan of upside down knives LOL! :D

Shivworks/SoutNarc really needs to be given credit for popularizing the RGEI methodology.

Ray Floro also needs to be given credit for teaching and expanding the RGEI method. I am sure there are others out there that I don't know about.

Here is a clip of Ray Floro doing a RGEI Jab which is the bread and butter of his Floro Fighting System. If anyone thinks they can easily block or evade a quick knife jab... think again. A sharp knife only requires speed, timing, and accuracy to do the job.

I highly doubt that.... Especially if done properly. Besides, It would be kinda hard to top the Scotch Dispenser :D

Awww low blow....hahahaha. I like the P'kal and have the spyderco version and have bought a custom one. I dont know why, it has almost zero edc functionality. But they are pretty wicked.

Thanks man, and your right. Mr. Floro and Southnarc have alot of mutual respect and admiration. There are alot jumping on the wagon now but guys like them have been on this stuff for quite a while.
Im also noticing alot of knives being touted as Pikal knives now, and like I said just a few years ago they were openly laughed at..;)

Yep, I have seen some guys jumping on the bandwagon lately. But we know who the original guys are ;)......

BTW, I still have that Talonite TTKK you made for me back in the late 90s when talonite made its first appearance here on BF.

LOL... the SD may fit some hands well. Just not mine that's all. Your Spyderco P'Kal would be useful for anything a Wharnie knife would be useful for....

Busse Porkal?

Hey Trace!!! Whatcha doin?

Mr Rinaldi peeked in! Sweet! :D
