Busse push knife

Oh man.. a res-c handle on one would be the best. That would take care of most everyone's issues with them twisting in your hand when you punch with them wrong.

That being said. I'm still buying 2 if he made them in micarta!! Infi is a must

Yes.. res-c all the way. I can only dream lol
INFI is not a must for a push dagger. Trust me. You’re not gonna be chopping down trees or carving up car hoods with it.

Could be 420J2 and it wouldn’t make a difference.

Touche.. I would honestly take it in 420 if Jerry was offering it 😂

I've been Eyeballing a couple different Staccato's (specifically the C2 and the P respectively) for a while now. I will eventually pony up that dough, but it's hard talking myself into it haha.
Now that is just evil. Now I want one. Lol.

But if they made a 10mm 2011..... that would be perfect. I need to buy a pistol in 10mm

I thought you'd like that haha. Such a sexy gun. I agree. A 10mm would be awesome. I personally want one in 5.7 (sigh.. I love 5.7)

See, in alaska 5.7 doesn't have much appeal to me. I'd rather something like 10mm or 460 rowland if I were to switch from 9mm.

And I have a active during elmax. Need to get home and love on her some. I'm wanting to test infi, sr101, and elmax. See which steel I prefer.

Yeah. I can't imagine it's easy to get your hands on up there. It shoots nice though. Very fast, and flat shooting round. I haven't shot 460 rowland before, but I figured 30-30 would be a super popular round in Alaska (well.. everywhere really). That round gets slept on cause it's old. It's probably put more meat on tables than any other round (arguably.. it's either that or maybe .308, or even .22)

Edit: I'm kinda drunk and realized I threw Rifle calibers in a handgun discussion lmao.. don't mind me. Still love me some 10mm! Can't go wrong with that on your belt

Just a little helping hand, not trying to make your mind up for you - INFI has very high toughness so I go for that in the big blades. SR101 has great edge holding so I go for that in anything smaller. ELMAX seems to be used only in limited runs. Never had any Busse ELMAX, so I can’t speak on it but it’s a good steel in my experience from other makers and holds an edge a good while.

That's why I wanted to make it in Infi. Toughness imo is better suited to a push dagger. Imean.. you only use it if you have to so you rarely need to sharpen one. Toughness on the other hand. If you NEED to use it.. you're gonna want the toughness. You generate an insane amount of force behind a strike with a push dagger.

Edge retention on my push daggers is almost an afterthought. I want them to be strong. I want to know I can't snap it off in between my fingers if I miss and hit something hard.

Also another very important point. Push daggers are kept extremely close to the body. Meaning they see a lot of sweat. SR101 will be a constant fight to keep rust off it.

That's good if I want to give my attacker tetanus, but it's a test of patience to keep it maintained. Infi will be a breeze to maintain.. almost does it for you.

Ehhhhh, not really. Doesn’t really matter what a push dagger’s made of as long as it goes in. They’re kind of a “one use item”. I see zero point in having one made in an ultra high performance super tough steel.

And on that note, I’m gonna stop bashing my head on this brick wall. Have fun y’all.

Ok. Agree to disagree. Everyone has different qualities they'd like in a blade.

I'm just going off my experience is all. I've carried a push dagger on my person daily for roughly 15 years or so.

We just like different stuff 😁

Experience? So what have you used these for? Do you run around repeatedly stabbing things with them to need that super toughness? That’s what I was getting at. That was all completely rhetorical so don’t bother.

Doesn’t matter how much “experience” you have carrying something like that. If you actually use it for it’s intended purpose, you’re only gonna use it once.

1. Why so antagonistic? Is everything ok man? If you need to talk feel free to DM me and we can chat or something. Seems a little off.
2. You know nothing about me, my level of training, or the situations my life has put me in.
3. Yes (I will bother.. that "rhetorical" statement was an attempt at an escape from confrontation) I HAVE snapped a push dagger. I refuse to explain myself as to why I needed to use it, or why I know how to use it so well.

I don't need to answer to anyone.

Facts remain that I've owned AND used more push daggers over the years than most people's knife collections. I know exactly what it is that makes one "good" on the end of the user.
I don't appreciate some guy coming out the woodwork assuming things about me.. Especially with some "I know better about the thing you do more than me" type garbage. I know for a fact you wouldn't do that to me in person. So why here?

I didn't want a confrontation. I left it at agree to disagree. You turned it into this.

Actually, more so 308, 30-06. I only know one guy who has a 30-30 and it is a collectable Winchester he has never shot.

460 rowland I know a few guys who have it up here. With the rowland comp it ends up shooting like 45acp +p on recoil and muzzle rise.

Kinda what I've heard in general. My first busse was a hr2, and I was very impressed while butchering hogs and beating it on random crap.

I plan on taking all three on my next caribou hunt this fall and seeing what I think. It's not gonna be exactly fair since they are all different blade types, thicknesses, and edge angles, but it will give me an idea.

Well, if it was me..... I'd gloat "look what my knife can handle" and be punching trees, burn barrels, outhouse plywood, or whatever someone said I should punch.

I'd probably flatten the tip, and curse myself sharpening later.

But that is me. When I had my hr2, we smashed bricks with the cutting edge head to head with a mora. I'll let you guess which knife won.

Very true. Not a working type blade so steel choice is whatever. Edge holding, nah.
Any tough material regardless of edge holding should work. I believe VZ makes some push daggers out of G10?

Some interesting points in this thread, on both sides.

My own experience with push blades would have me buying at least 2 Busse offerings.
