Busses and Whisky

There were two bottles of Supernova in that cabinet... I might just need to go back and add that second one to my stash (what would Cobalt do?!?). This was my first encounter, and I'm totally smitten (abducted?)!

The standard Bourbon County is great this year, but for the 1st time, I also grabbed a couple variants.... haven't tried the "Mon Cheri" yet, but the "Cafe de Olla" is a delicious coffee/mole stout... and my standards are kinda high living in the SouthWest. There was also a rye barrel aged and a wheat variant.... again, another trip there might just NEED to happen!

Go back for the other one. I’ve never regretted getting a second bottle...or mail it to me. Either way.

Been eyeing this one and caught it on sale - My first Pig, first impressions here's what I am really picking up, very "earthy" and lots of horsepower :D There's no young grain element here like I've had with some other ryes' of late. btw, wife is making some peanut brittle LOL!

We cracked a bottle of Screwball Peanut Butter whiskey at the shop yesterday and it was awesome. I really had my doubts but it is some good stuff.

I did some reading up on this Screwball- OK, I'm in, going to put it on the list to look for - One of those things that you just have to satisfy the curiosity, fortunately, won't cost much for a change.

Tin Cup is doing a Rye now. Was looking for a new bottle of Rittenhouse when I saw it, and it was on sale for less $$ than the Rittenhouse, so I picked up a bottle. Not bad at all, though it won't be replacing the Rittenhouse as my everyday Rye. Makes a good old fashioned.

Got the Skrewball.

Hmmm...
Smells like candy.
Tastes kind of like candy too.

Maybe add something a bit chocolatey?

How about a bit of Tempus Fugit Crème de Cacao?
L3eVqat.jpg

Good, but not Reese's. And not quite right. But not sorry.

Maybe Mozart Chocolate Cream liqueur?
IyY4tZJ.jpg

That's what we're looking for. Still not Reese's, but the Mozart has a more chocolatey flavor, the cream gives it just the right mouthfeel.

I'll bet Bailey's with the Crème de Cacao would work too. Or just a bit of heavy cream. And maybe some Crème de Menthe. But then we'd just have a Peanut Butter Grasshopper, and I don't think a Grasshopper can be improved upon (at least not with peanut butter)..

I think drinking enough of this to get drunk would cause the worst hangover ever. I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.

Man, I've been looking for this one hard! not finding it. I saw the recent review by Daniel and Rex on Whisky Vault and just made me want it even worse. I killed my last bottle of 16 a while back and been thinking about grabbing another bottle until I saw this Distillers Edition came out - now I'm Jonesing even harder HAHA!

Nice!  I'd buy that in a heartbeat if I saw it on the shelf! :D

Had a nice old fashioned this evening. 1 TBSP simple syrup, 5 dashes bitters, a couple cherries, strip of fresh orange peel, and about 3-4 oz of the recently acquired Tin Cup Rye whiskey. Awesome!!!

PS - If you're not using Luxardo cherries in your adult beverages, you're missing out BIG time!

Been waiting/wanting to try that one.
Recommended by a friend, haven’t had time to hit the stores for it yet.

Smell and color seem about the same as the regular 16YO to me. Something else going on with the taste, but I don't know the words to describe it. Is that what they call "seawater"? I dunno.

Good, but I think I like the 16YO better. But since the 16YO is the Scotch they drink in Plato's heaven, any deviation from that ideal must necessarily be something less than perfection, n'est-ce pas?

Spot the Grail :D Wow, can not believe I fell into such luck to find another Cobalt rec on the shelf and at an amazing price. With a generous pour she's already in the vault to keep the HP Ice Edition company. Also been hot on the trail for the Glenlivet 14 Cognac cask.

Worthless piece of trivia~ While helping out a friend find some Scotch for her cousin, and only having "it starts with a G in a green bottle" I discovered, there are 35 single malt name brands/distillers that start with a G- All of them actually beginning with "Glen" There is no scotch I found, starting with a G that wasn't a Glen.

Follow up on the Signet- sonofabeach, why can't you find a flavor explosion like this under $100?.... good lordy mercy~ this :poop: is impressive :eek::eek:
