You're entitled to your opinion but clearly the majority of the respondents to this thread disagree. The OP wasn't disrespectful or disparaging and asking the world's largest knife forum for an opinion before making an issue out of something seems like a completely logical use of the world's largest knife forum.

But, that said, even if the OP was nasty in his initial post, he is still the consumer and has a concern. The way in which the maker reacts to that concern will say a lot and is what people will ultimately judge and remember. This will be even more impactful if the owner is nasty and the maker is not. We've seen it here many times.

It is not my opinion, it was my personal experience. That is the problem today, lot's of opinion's. How many people who responded here on the thread had personally dealt with Jake before???

Like I just said..my name is James not Jake. I think your response to me says a LOT about you, not Jake. I reached out to Jake today via Instagram PM and he responded TODAY. I don't know why you had to give me a smartass response given I took the time to explain another perspective on the matter and did not attack you for posing the concern. I had assumed maybe you did not message him on Instagram in this digital age where it is easy to connect with sellers, makers, and buyers and I was correct in that.

I contacted him twice through email, i thought it would be enough and i dont want to spam him any further. Believe, it or not, i dont uses IG alot... see how few followers or following i have. Also, i didn’t give you a smartass answer. I just explain my point and stood my ground. But you are free to believe what you want.

We all saw how Jake Hoback personally responded to a simple question about his knife. You seem more interested in polishing his boots and trying to make ridiculous negative insinuations about the OP's character than about the issue at hand.

I’m sure that someone right now is typing to point out where your opinions and facts are in your post.

I wasn't referencing your reported experience, I was referencing your opinion on how the OP did or should have handled it.

So yeah, maybe lots of opinions are the problem today.

Serious? Your first response to me was "Is this Jake Hoback?!?" That's being a smart ass.
Given you mentioned you used Instagram to hunt for his email, I asked why not just message him there then, fair question.

Would you say it is fair that it is your opinion that the OP should have messaged the maker directly on Instagram?

Mr. Hoback...if you are still reading this thread...turning what you call “bad press” into “good press” just takes one more email. I would think that would have already happened. Customers are a high priority to a business.
Kmikaz3 Kmikaz3 wasn’t trying to bad mouth you. Legit concern and random question posted to the rest of us knife nuts.
Humility is in order I believe.

Also a legitimate question. Makers have signed up with a “fake” name here before to stir the pot.
Are you stirring the pot sir? It seems like it.

My thought too... not trying to be «smartass » like you implied i was. Also Jake did say he will try to login and add his input, so.

Not a fair question, I have held my account since 2013 had either of you bothered to look and see. Both of you are far from acting like adults with snide remarks like that, my opinion of course.

Who are you talking to? Which 2?
Also, I did check. 2013 with 110 posts. Who cares.
The point is, you are stirring the pot. If the OP decides to lock this thread, then Jake won’t be able to respond if he logs in.
Is this what you are going for?

One, I never reached out to you here. My first response was to share a different perspective and an actual experience with the knife maker that was a polar opposite. You made it a point to insert yourself and throw snide remarks at me. Just because you try to cancel my voice in the matter does not make it legitimate.

I’m about done here...you still didnt answer my question about who you were referencing.
Your experiences you posted are legitimate and I never once said they weren’t. Its your OPINIONS that you posted are incorrect.

You stated that the OP’s question was “bad press”. It was not. Sometime the high horse looks like a donkey.

Here my follow up answer to Jake. As you can see i was apologetic, probably because im Canadian....

And here is his reply.

That ends our conversation.

This thread, and in particular the response of the owner/manufacturer, remind me of why larger firms hire PR companies to handle customer communications. Owners today have to deal with social media and the like, and it can be a pain to see your product criticized when you have invested your very life in the success of your enterprise. I have no dog in this fight, and hope that the OP and manufacturer can work it out. I do agree that the pics of the wear are cause for concern. Good luck getting resolution!
