California Bush Bash II Moved to October 23-25

Mike brought both his children last time. Sasha brought his nephew, who I believe is around 10. It's basically car camping in a non-campground setting. In May there was a 2-3 hour target shooting period one day, but there's no need to participate if you'd rather do something else (I was reading a good adventure book at the time). The shooters were firing into a hillside that was a couple hundred yards from my camp.

My son shoots, and shoots. Hell, I would bring the .22s, the airguns, and the bows. That's not a problem :D

We could even practice some quick kill techniques with the bb guns and have see if we can split some pellets at 15 meters on a hawk blade.
 
just a clarification- I don't mean no drinking or whatever- or no shooting, we are all shooters of everything from bows to shotguns to airguns to tequila (okay, leif doesn't shoot tequila)

But leif will.... head off on his own a bit, within his version of reason, and he gets underfoot. Of course, he lives in a knifemaking shop, he's really safe as far as that goes. I'll make sure he has a super whistle.

choice of weapons? I'll take you on if it's limited to .22 revolvers ;) I *might* bet if it's .22 longguns with open sights.
 
Wow, a lot more interest this time! This is going to be great. Not that it wasn't awesome the first time.

Thanks to Sasha's continuing motivation, we are working on plans for a winter Bush Bash III in the desert. That ought to be a lot closer to the arid land of the zona people. It may be a few weeks before we get the details worked out but we'll let you know.

If you're going to bet on shooting, you may want to check the credentials of gruntinhusaybah before you bet anything too valuable. If memory serves me, he's a national level competitor and shot on the Marine team. Those guys are good and they don't like to lose.....;)

Well, I have a .22 pistol that I could use, but I was thinking of my .22 rifle. If I had to set up the rules, they would be "Anything goes."

And I won't lose. Even against the marine sharpshooter. :)

PS: Cockiness is part of my humor, please don't take me seriously.

oh, did I hear something about bets with a .22!? I'll be sure to bring my Remington 40X (that I haven't shot yet:eek:) I'll have to take it out and get a zero soon
 
Looks like I should be able to spend the night on Friday. That means the dutch oven will be coming if you guys think you can get a good bed of coals going. Now to decide what to make...cobbler, mountain man breakfast, maybe try out one of my brother's dutch oven recipes that his scouts like (enchiladas or chili with corn bread).

Ian may not be the crack shot with the rifle, but he wants to challenge gruntinhusaybah to some skeet competition.
 
One area in which our regular crew might actually be able to beat the Grunt is primitive archery. In addition to our archers, I used to be a fairly decent knife thrower---but I haven't done it since about 2002.:o

I will try to locate my dutch oven for the outing. We can definitely get some coals going!:thumbup:
