California Bush Bash II Moved to October 23-25

You know, I feel so damn bad for you that I'm gonna sacrifice by taking your place in Hawaii. I'm generous that way. No need to thank me...really. ;)

Thanks for the offer, but just couldn't submit anyone else to that. I'll just suck it up and take it like a man I guess.

Which island?

The big island, Kona. I'm gonna have to talk to you before we go, see if you have any advice for us.

All I need now is a smaller tent. I'm sure you guys will laugh at the size of the tent I have right now. 26 lbs, 160 sqft. Dunno how it'll handle a stormy weather, either.

Ah, don't worry, you should see MtnFolk Mike's tent, it's like a small house. You're car camping anyways, who cares how much it weighs.

Ah :D One of my uncle's lives in Kona. Haven't been to the big island in a while, but I'll call him up and see if he can give me some recs. Good choice, lots to see and do on that island.. His inlaws are big Japanese Fishermen...maybe they can take you guys out with them...IIRC October's good for Ahi, Ulua, and Mahi Mahi :).

Well I just returned from Dirttime 2009 and learned a lot. Hopefully I'll be able to pass at least a little of it on at BBII.

would you guys mind if a lowly nevadite showed up? i might be able to coax the ball n chain...

I really like Nevada and its folks! We would be delighted to have you participate. We call it "California" Bush Bash II only because that's where it is held. EVERYONE is welcome so please try to make it.

It is definitely a "go" and quite a few folks are interested. I was going to start a fresh thread in a few days to put it in front of anyone who missed this thread.

Thanks for resuscitating this thread!

Sasha and I are definites. I believe C. Bryant is going to try to make it, depending upon work load. MtnFolk Mike was a "go" last time I heard. Perhaps Stingray too. Lambertiana looked likely at last check and Ray Laconico is confirmed. Don't know about Bearthedog but I expect he'll try. Several other folks have posted in this thread that they are planning to attend.

Gruntinhusaybah also sounded interested and he is from your region of the state, as I recall. Unfortunately, I think he had a pretty tight travel schedule.

Unfortunately, something has come up that will prevent me from going. And I was really looking forward to it. You guys will have to do your own scones and dutch oven cooking.

I'm taking four days off around the fourth for my cousin's wedding...oddly enough in Visalia and I won't be able to take the dates off for the bash so I doubt I will be lucky enough to get the days off by luck that week. But it I do, you bet I'll be there.

If this is still on, I should be able to come. Currently I am staying in the Visalia area. Just let me know...

it's still up in the air for us right now... i am definitle going to try and make it happen though...

Visalia isn't too far away from me, if you want to come and check out the coast drop me a line....:D

It is absolutely, positively still on. Sorry to lose a couple of BBI participants but a number of W&SS members who weren't there the first time are planning to attend. We may also get a few more as the time nears.

We had a great time at the first gathering and I think this one will be equally fun!:D

We are in the area to help a family member who is battling cancer...

cool Mark.. i'll drop you a line soon... Visalia is probably about 3-3.5 hours away from us here in Santa Cruz...

good luck with the family.. :)

Wow, two awesome knifemakers in Visalia at once! Ray and Mark!.... I may have to skip out on the wedding early :) Mark are you aware of the ABS Hammer-in and knife show this weekend in Visalia?

okay, I'm trying to figure out if I can make it or not. I need like, map, directions, and stuff. It looks like a 4 hour drive..... And I may or may not have scheduling issues.

In the calendar sticky there's a thread on Bush Bash I that contains some excellent directions from lambertiana.

Hope you can make it!
