Wow, two awesome knifemakers in Visalia at once! Ray and Mark!.... I may have to skip out on the wedding early :) Mark are you aware of the ABS Hammer-in and knife show this weekend in Visalia?

Well we know Ray is awesome, but that Mark guy... well.. :)
I DO know about the hammer in now thanks to a friendly PM ;)
I have not had decent internet access for months, and I can say I have really missed this forum. You guys, and gals, are the best.

Was really hoping to go to this, but my mother's 70th b-day is on Oct. 29th and her party is the weekend before. I'll be in beautiful (ahem) Boise ID getting drunk with mom and trying to avoid certain relatives.

I sould still be attending this, I'll be up there late fri night, I wont be bringing nearly as many knives due to circumstances and sales :grumpy:
but It should be a good time

Hey, it's not a knife show. You can arrive with one SAK and feel at home. Last time, some folks brought little more than a Mora.

Bangsticks are welcome. We have an area to shoot.

I'm sure one of the knife-intensive guys would be happy to pass on knowledge about blades in exchange for your firearms experience.;)

Hope to see you there!

this is still looking really iffy, for us... i'm not sure if we'll be able to make it..:( we got a lot of crap going on right now and have been super busy..

Nothing is formally scheduled. However, several folks have talked about a hike on Sat. A couple people have also mentioned bringing a mountain bike.

Last time, lambertiana made fresh scones on Sunday morning and someone may pick up that tradition. As I recall, that was followed by some target shooting.

During the entire weekend of the last gathering there was archery practice, testing of knives/axes/hawks, collection of fatwood, firemaking, and an informal knife show.

Last time, we lost a day to rain. This time some folks may want to play with primitive traps and do a few more things.

At BBI some local survival food was collected and cooked. Who knows---that might happen again?

Basically, it is an open format gathering so feel free to bring whatever W&SS type things you want to do.

Mike,

Sorry to hear that. However, plenty of folks are still planning to attend and we expect a larger turnout than last time.

Sasha and a few of us are working on a BBIII in the desert during January. The tentative plan is to aim for the weekend of Martin Luther King's birthday. We need to do some more location research before posting it but keep that weekend in mind for a winter outing.

I just posted another reminder on here about the meet. Didnt notice this one ...

Excellent! I was thinking about doing the same and you beat me to it.

Good work.

I just checked the extended ten-day forecast for the area and they are predicting a zero percent chance of rain....so be sure to bring your ponchos!:D Kidding aside, I think that the conditions should be just about perfect.

Still up in the air for me, don't know if I'll have time for a full on camping trip (might only have time for a dayhike, if that :() this coming weekend. We'll see. This would be such a great opportunity to learn some real skills though...:)

The directions are contained in the calendar sticky under the first Bush Bash.
