calling Cliff Stamp...

From db:

I do also and couldn’t have said it better. Also Sal is a very wise business man and was smart to get Cliff a few knives. I remember a few years ago Cliff wasn’t very impressed with the calypso at all. Now look it’s on his top 5 list.

Are you implying that Sal is "buying" Cliff's favor by giving him knives?

If anyone can do a knife review better than Cliff then let er Rip. I do not know Cliff personaly but, I do know he tries his best to inform us all!

Sal I beleivbe you do listen to everyone and that is one of the things that makes you a great businessman. AllenC I'm not implying anything.

And the more people know about these knives the more they will (hopefully) want and buy them. Making them more popular, thus more available for people like you and me.

And it's not just about buying, say, specifically Alvin's knives. Back when the internet groups and then the world wide web were young, the level of discussion was much lower than it is today. It literally took us years to get to the point of understanding what, for example, a 67 Rc 1095 blade brings to the table, much less how to take advantage of it. Now, a knife newbie, by taking 30 seconds to read one short post by Cliff, has his eyes opened to some pretty laser-targeted setups -- 67 Rc 1095, 63 Rc 10V, etc. I'd venture to say that someone who reads Cliff's post and can get to the point that he understands why Cliff made the choices he did (not that he has to agree, just understand: why go so hard and use such a thin blade? What does 10V bring to the table? Why a 64 Rc stainless folder? etc) would be jumpstarted really nicely on knife knowledge.

I believe that I bother to listen to all opinions on our knives. that's how we are able to improve them. Forumites offer a broad and intelligent format from interested passionate ELUs.

There are quite a few people on this forum that I respect and listen to.

I still do my own thinking, testing and decision making, as all of you do in the end anyway.

sal

You are a wise man, my friend. "That I respect".

Much respect.

any time i can learn for free i consider it a good lesson.i could care less how cliff makes his living or what perks he gets for what he does.i am always amazed at people who complain when they get somthing for nothing .
i can tell there are smart folks on here with a lot of knowledge but to slam cliff for his posts seems dumb as a rock.
when i first got here i saw what joe talmadge had to say about steels and i went to cliff stamps web page and when i got done i knew a heck of a lot more then i did. wonder how long id have had to spend learning that on my own.
if u already know it all then don't read his posts but if u think that maybe you can learn somthing then do.
will the people who police for proper typing just send me a ticket and save the comments.

I don't know about the rest of you, but when I "found" Blade Forums, I tried my hardest to "fit in". The only thing I know is when I tried to post on something (doesn't matter what) when i hit that "submit reply", I waited on bated breath for someone to answer. I think that's something we have all have felt, weither we want to admit it or not. MANY times Cliff was the one that bothered to post a reply. For one newbe, I appriecate your effort to respond to my simplistic posts. "THANK YOU SIR." Some of you may feel he doesn't serve a purpose, but you are wrong. My respect comes at a high price. To have it means a great deal to me. Not once in my time here has K.V. Collucci ever responed to any of MY posts. Thank you Cliff for making my time here bearable.

I agree, Cliff's heart and soul are in knives and, his only agenda has been one to share.
