Actually, this thread about officially inviting, and encouraging Rick to participate on this forum freely, and post pics of his work, which I love seeing!!

You know rick as Magnussen on these forums, and the maker behind Wildertools. http://www.wildertools.com/

Also, this thread I'm going to mention that Rick and I are collaborating on a design! I've drawn something up. Now its his turn to make changes and post the changes.

That's funny, Andy...... I think we have the same blade shape in mind... UNCANNY!

Here's my first dwg I did last night......

The dark stuff in the bolster area was for your wrapping, which I like a lot, and I'd love to put that scrolling on the end of mine too!!!

The double line on the handle area of that first dwg was my interpretation of your combo-wood handle scales...... lol... definately too much going on there

Howbout this?

DWG 2...

Drawing #2 looks real good Rick.

Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Check the dimensions, Andy... the graph paper is 1/4" scale.

Thickness - 5/32"?

If you like it, I'll forge it out and send you the annealed profile

Perhaps we should talk logistics a bit more.

5/32" thick is my favorite steel thickness. It'll be a helluva knife at that thickness.

How are you with tapered tangs?

I'm passable. But, How does that work with your scrollwork?

I haven't bought a fixed blade in a few years but I'd definitely be interested in one like the last that magnussen posted.

The thickness won't be exact, as I will be forging this down from a 3/4" round bar of 5160

I was thinking this...

1. I'll forge and profile the blank, anneal it and send it to you.

2. You rough grind (reprofile any sketchy areas, HT, handle and finish the blade... then send it to me.

3. I'll wrap the foregrip, possibly age the scales a bit (if you're okay with it) and sheath it.

I think that spreads the work out evenly?

Where do you intend on putting your name? I was going to just use my name character... not the Wildertools one.

I'll put my name on the tang somewhere. No biggie. Curly hickory?? That sounds like a good one to age!!

Holy Crap! This is the last thing I need, a collaboration between Andy and Rick. I'm really digging the sketches so far.

ETA: You guys aren't seriously considering only doing one of these are you?!
