Camillus and Schrade of Old Given Short Shrift Now-A-Days

A couple weeks ago I found a special issue Schrade LB5 (see post #346), I liked it a lot and decided to look for the standard model. Though not as old as other blades in this thread, it is a quality lock back from an unfortunately now defunct American manufacturer. The fit is excellent and the rose wood quite pretty. With a hand fitting curve to the spine and the tang below the bolster when closed it is quite comfortable to use. At 3.75 " and solidly built I'm beginning to think this could become my favorite lock back.

This is a great thread! Growing up I considered Schrade,Camillus, and Case to be working mans knife.

I have enjoyed many Old Timers over the years. I once cut up a country ham right out of the smokehouse with the clip blade of an 80T. When I finished and cleaned it up it was still fairly sharp. Not so sure many of today’s knives would be. The 858 is also a favorite of mine.

The Camillus 72 are great knives as well. Just curious how y’all say Camillus? I have always called it Cam-eel-yus. But have heard others call them Camel-us. Not sure which is correct? Thanks

I originally thought it was pronounce "camel-us" but have since been corrected to say: kuh-MILL'-us.

Nice! Those American Wildlife Series knives are cool. When they came out, I thought the plastic bubble shields were kinda tacky. Maybe it's nostalgia, but I like them now. :D

Schrade-Walden "Ring-Opener"... I can only think that "Dean" and "Dino" were twins that turned 21 years old and this was their gift? Who knows, just another one of those history mysteries we all have with our old knives ;) I never noticed that the pattern on the handles was different on the mark side and pile side, one of those things that taking photos helps you notice :D

This is the schrade 3OT bearhead (one is stamped master mechanic but it's the same), however it is a completely different knife than the real schrade walden 3OT which is a grail of any serious schrade collector. Rather than a bone handled washington jack with a sheepsfoot blade these are diminutive lockbacks. They are smaller than they look, but have a nice thin blade and a solid lock. They are new to me and I got them as a pair. I did not need them, but here they are...:D
