Camillus and Schrade of Old Given Short Shrift Now-A-Days

Talking of under-appreciated, the GEC 15 is almost identical to the Camillus WW2 navy knife - a real beauty

Agreed. I took this shot years ago, when I first acquired a navy knife. The knife up top is a GEC #15 Boy's Knife from 2105. The knife below is a pre-WW2 Camillus; probably early 1930's. The frames and styles are remarkably similar.

Indeed, and I was hoping that GEC would produce a replica of that great Camillus navy knife in the upcoming spear point #15 run, but it got announced before I had time to organise a thread on it.

Still don’t understand why older Camillus and Schrade knives could have such great jigging compared to modern folders.

I've got more Camillus and Schrade in my collection than I know what to do with. Unfortunately, most of my Camillus-manufactured knives are branded under other names, and I don't think I have any pictures of my Schrades.

I just prefer new knives to used ... thus I naturally gravitate to Case and GEC. Never cared for vintage anything ... unless you consider classic rock music to be vintage :-)

Here's a couple I picked up today. 1992 22LR-1 Rimfire Classic and a key-chain knife modded with circuit boards. My oldest son works as a Network Admin and lives in Camillus. I thought he'd like the key-chain knife. I liked the pen!

Here's a couple of shots from a "Camillus Knife Museum" that a Village of Camillus entrepreneur set up in his shop. I stopped by for the first time today.

I asked him what were the oldest knives in the collection? He pointed to the Sherwood Cutlery ebony easy open and the other ebony to it's right. Made around 1890. Sherwood Cutlery was purchased by Kastor Brothers and subsequently became Camillus Cutlery.

Here's a few other random shots.

I told the owner he's likely to be seeing a lot of me!

I need to add a few of these to my arsenal that I can find NIB. They have “2nd cool” written all over them. Tell me which ones to get thanks guys

Most probably some of the finer knives made by two from the top Shelf in the American Cutler history. Even the Blue Collar worker Knives ( sorry I tend to call them that ) are such good quality, I am seeing quite the reverse and see that people are starting to snatch both of these Makers knives up- in the Old Timer Range etc
