Camillus and Schrade of Old Given Short Shrift Now-A-Days

Schrade Walden 175, listed in catalogs as a grafting knife, yet it seems suspiciously similar to a simple boys knife or plain jack.
That simple knife probably served a few market niches, Paul!!Brn SIWF 1.jpgBrn SIWF 2.jpg
Every time I pick this knife up, I think of having those shrunken handles replaced! But then I think of the character lost!! Wood was definitely the superior material in those days!!

Just look at it as an excuse to buy another one that has wood handles. :D

I just received this hard to find Camillus 88 Lok-Rancher in nice condition, from the bicentennial year 1976, which was also Camillus' 100th anniversary.
Pushing forward on the sliding tab on the mark side of the frame locks the clip main. Indian Stag (Delrin) handles and 440B stainless steel.

Mightily like the Case 11031SH, too. :)

I think found the model number in the 1926 catelog. (The earliest I could find).
Schrade Walden 2151chain jacknife. Wood is Cocobolo, not the Ebony or dark Rosewood I thought it was.
Tangstamp is c1917 to 1946. I wonder what year the 2151chain first appeared in the catalog.

There was also a 2153Chain; same knife but with jigged bone covers. In the 1940 catalog, only the 2153Chain was listed.
Oversight? Or was the Cocobolo handled 2151Chain dropped sometime between 1927/1928 and 1940, leaving only the bone handled?

Made by Camillus for Sears!! Some etch remaining; "Stay-Sharp (over) Four Blade Cattle", and it sports Rodgers Bone handles, and Camillus's Spiral punch!!

That’s a beaut Charlie. As you know I try to gather Sears - I am so lucky enough to have one of those sitting at MR Hilborn’s waiting for passage to NZ!
That’s a very nice Knife!
