Camillus and Schrade of Old Given Short Shrift Now-A-Days

Camillus Marlin Spike Knife (World War I version) c.1915. First military knife contract that Camillus ever received. Made for the British and Canadian Navies.

With the World War II version below. The WWII version has a sheepsfoot vs a spear blade, a steel clevis/bail vs copper, jigged rosewood vs bone handles, a flathead screwdriver and no can opener.

What's the value of a wwi version in excellent condition with the jigged bone Spike and tin blade

Here’s a USA-made Schrade Scrimshaw lockback that is new to me. It came with the box, sheath and paperwork. Knife and sheath look to me to be unused. I’m almost certain that the edge is factory.

The pattern is 515SC. Maybe someone more knowledgable than me will know if Schrade gave the Scrimshaw series their own pattern designations. I’m pretty sure this is the exact same pattern as the 5OT.

I scanned the paperwork included with the knife as I thought some of you might find it of interest. The copyright date on the paperwork is 1991.

I cropped and rotated the registration form so it was easier to read.

I just found a 1960-76 Camillus #72 which looks unused at a local antique shop over the weekend. It even has "Genuine Cabone" scales lol. I'm really liking this knife, to the point it MAY end up replacing the #18 Case Stockman in my pocket. I'd post a pic if I can ever figure out how.

I had no idea this thread existed. Thanks Modoc ED Modoc ED for starting it! Some of my favorite knives to collect were the Schrade Old Timers and so I have quite a few. Nothing compared to most of you in this thread however! 🤣 I've mostly been posting them in random other threads such as the Stockman Sunday thread. I'll have to post some of them here as well!

Here is probably one of my oldest Schrades, based on the tang stamp and the match strike long pull. Although I bought it used and it already showed for wear, it is one I'm not afraid to put to hard use as well.

I do believe the scrimshaws had separate model number. I'm sure yours is the same pattern as a 5OT. Very nice :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Schrade Old Timer 108OT, made from 1963 to 2004. I carried one from 1983 until I lost it on a job site in 2005. Great little penknife made in the Stockman pattern. OH
Thanks for that. You know when I looked at the blade I thought it said "USA Made". After seeing my photo I realized that is actually said "USA 1080T"
I found mine in 1989, so at least I know it's not yours!

I own three “Bird Knives” but only this Camillus #17 has never been out bird hunting with me, so I took it this past Wednesday and Thursday. I knew I wouldn’t be cleaning birds (cleaning and vacuum packaging is part of the Lodge’s service and is built in the price of the hunt), but I wanted to carry a bird knife anyway. Part of the Camillus American Wildlife series from about 40-45 years ago, this knife also appears as both a Camillus and a Western without the American Wildlife etch. It was unseasonably hot, but like fishing, any day out hunting is a great day! OH

My shotgun was a Valentine Day gift from my wife in 2011. It’s from a short run, Japanese made Browning Citori “White Lightning” chambered in 16 GA, that was imported by Browining USA in 2010. She let me pick it out and she paid for it, but claimed the rebate! OH
