Camillus and Schrade of Old Given Short Shrift Now-A-Days

Man, there's a lot of great stuff in this thread!

Kevin, I'm with you on the '78 Parkers: the bone and jigging is awesome, in brown, green and red.

I also think the Heritage Series knives are very undervalued today. USA Schrade quality with bone handles . . . great!

This is an oddball knife, with 1983 Heritage smooth green bone covers, but an 8OT tang stamped main.

And don't forget the New York Knife offerings from 1995, with some beautiful burnt stag.

Beautiful collection of stockmen! Thanks for sharing.

I bought this for my father sometime in the late 80s or early 90s as best I can recall. He had a knife that he had carried since "forever," but one time I was visiting with him and he mentioned that he had lost it. When I got back home I wanted to buy something for him but didn't know much about knives back then, having only a Buck 703, a Vic Woodsman, and a Buck 110 myself. I went shopping and selected this Uncle Henry 885UH for him. I think I did OK! He has since passed on so it's mine to keep and cherish now.
I really like the old Schrades and would like to get into collecting them.

Nice one Ace! I bought this one in 1970 & it's pretty much the only knife I carried for the next 30 years. If memory serves me, I paid close to $25 for it, which was a lot of money for me for me to spend on a knife at the time.

Nothing fancy, but here's my meager contribution to the thread. :)

This Schrade stockman looks a mess, but it still has really good snap. I haven't gotten around to cleaning it up and sharpening it yet.

And this little Old Timer is one of the two knives I inherited from my grandfather after he died.

I bought a couple of knives from a US Navy veterans estate at an antique sale. Ship marked S-W and Camillus rigger knives were included (look closely at the Camillus, you can see "Deck #2" roughly engraved on the blade and bolster). Based on documents in his estate, he served on the USS Portland LSD37, USS Iwo Jima LP42, and the USS Vogelgesang. OH

I bought this knife, 4" SC881Y, in a hardware store about ten years ago, it was in a plastic tube (old style package) but blade marked for the 2004 100th anniversary. It has Swindon Key bolsters, but that is all I have figured out about it - maybe an end of days parts knife. OH

Deer hunters knives, I've used the two fixed blades, but never used the folding hunter (keeping it NIB). Just starting work on a whitetail with the Schrade 160OT - the nice, thin blade works easier in a deer in my opinion than the thicker 165OT. OH
