Camillus Bank Liquidation

Reading this way back on page #2 I was wondering when someone would dig into the actions of the Union Official/s in charge of Negotiations.

You can bet the employees would have rather settled and saved their jobs, especially those with 20 plus years in....I would dare say those long time employees had a certian sence of pride about the Camillus name and product they were making.

I can't see the Owners and Upper Management in an all out hurry to destroy the plant, close the doors and be out of a job either.

So if the worker bees and the Queen bees don't have a high desire to be out in the cold and not making honey........I would wonder about the farmer with more than enough hives to harvest.....In this case the Union Officials that collect their dues just like IRS and SS....Right out of the worker bees checks.

Plant closes and the Steel Workers Union loses 70 members for now. Odds are 50 will get new employment and continue paying their Union dues while the other 20 will retire or find something else and the Union goes on with Business as Ussual....They didn't really lose anything, stirred the pot in hopes of bettering their (Union) position and it didn't work so move on.

Toss the Union Guys out and send in a committy of level headed employees along with a group or open minded, dedicated management willing to make it work and one rep from the bank. I think you would see it work for all parties concerned.

Even with consessions on both side to get the plant back up to speed and running again with an increase in wages or what not in a reasonable period is better than looking at going into winter, un employement and the Holidays just around the corner....See there you have it again, the only ones not going to have a hard time with the plant closing would be the Great Union Negotiator/s that are home all toasty warm planning Thanks Giving Dinner for 20 and a Christmas Shopping spree the day after.

I would hate the see Camillus close only the re appear as a Pac Rim were Amerians are paying top dollar for 3rd world knock off products of questionable quality.

Just my opinion, nothing more and I wish all employees, management and the owners of Camillus the best....Employee'd and working to bring home a paycheck sure beat getting out there and trying to find another job heat treating metal, grinding blades and what not while that Union Guy in off chatting with who knows who.

PS, I don't have anything to do with Camillus, Union or any other concerned parties. I own a Camillus Cuda, EDC and me and M3 Trench Knife.

Enough rumors, here's the latest email sent directly, and in writing from Camillus:

Dear Sir:

Camillus Cutlery is open, shipping and trying the best to deal with customers. We have a strike that has been punishing to the company and we are still in talks with the union.
Camillus Cutlery believes that our competitors are spreading the rumors since they have never been able to compete on quality and design against Camillus, so they have to resort to misinformation.

Thank You
Camillus Cutlery

There is no union. Those that disagree are intimitated into believing union officials by bulleying tactics. What was needed was a leader that cared enough to bring the group together in a effort to end this mess. Someone to stand up!! They would have enough people to back them because there are only a few who are ignorant to the welfare of the people. There will be no talks as long as the present people are still involved. How to counteract that? It would take a strong leveled headed person with the desire and strength to lead. Is there anyone left capable in doing that??
I agree whole heartedly that the potential buyer had the capability and desire to bring this company around and unfortunately this will not happen. Again, thanks to the few. I'm not saying that everyone would have been thrilled. There would have been change but in many ways it would have benefited many people!!

There is no name. That ought to tell you that there is no one in charge exept a hired hand holding the fort praying for a buyer.

Not necessarily. When I signed notes for buyers with my last job, it was always the company name, never my own- even though the company is quite solvent and I was a manager.

Also I might add, there is no telling the volume of hate mail, praise mail, maybe even threat mail recieved. I don't know that I would want to include my name either. If you speak for the company, there is nothing wrong with signing the company name, though it is customary to include the job title, or department title, such as "Customer Service". Given the fact that many duties/job titles are likely shared now, I don't see it as any significant message though.

I chose to withhold 'her' name out of courtesy since I didn't obtain permission to use the quote. Feel free to contact them yourselves by phone or email to get the story 'firsthand'.
