During our fishing expedition Monday, the boy's exchanged rod, with the cheap line that's provided on it didn't do so well. Tuesday before we went fishing again, I put some new line on, using some of the old mono as a backer.
Uni-to-Uni knot is an easy way to tie two lines together for either using a backer or for attaching a leader.
Fresh line and ready to go again.
On our way going fishing Tuesday, the boy wanted to stop by the caboose. It's an old caboose that a local bank has as a lawn decoration. It's intact mostly and well preserved, and save for some plywood covers over the wheels to hold on Christmas lights, it's pretty much as it was 120 years ago. I like it as much as he does, and we stop and check it out every week or two.
On the way over to it, I somehow ended up fumbling Camper and he slid part way out of the sheath and bit me.
After a few pictures, we mosied back to the car and I dug out a bandaid and patched myself up. This bandaid is actually one I found in Academy's parking lot and picked up. I don't normally keep bandaids in the car (I know I should), and when I grabbed this one I told the boy, we might need this one day, so it was a good lesson for him.
We went to a local city reservoir and saw some Canada Geese as we made our way over the hill.
It was a beautiful evening for fishing! I used Camper for all the lure changes and knots while we were there.
I didn't get any bass, but I caught the biggest Crappie I've ever seen.
The boy got a couple, a Crappie and a Bluegill.
And I got another small Crappie.
We had a beautiful sunset!
