Camper The Traveling Muk (aka: Pass The Muk)

Thank you for taking us along on the method for your sheath making, fascinating and of the highest standard sir 👍🏼

In regard to hard wood, my understanding was that buloke (which grows locally to me) was the world’s hardest wood? I may be wrong.
Thank you sir for the kind words! Here is what I was using:

I know that the ligum vitae was used for propeller shaft bearings in the huge battle ships as it was self lubricating. Lots of folks will use pieces of polished bone too for molding leather, or antler even. The process is actually referred to as boning.

I too appreciate the primer on sheath making. I make sheaths myself on occasion. Sometimes they turn out just great, othertimes, with something to be desired. I am learning a great deal, thank you.
Any questions, I'm always around for that deal. Alos there is a lot of info ion Sheaths and Such here on BF.

Well Amelie and her dad and lil sister just stopped by (0600) to pick up Spud for the junior rodeo this morning. Thursday evening we got some practice in and Camper got to go. Due to being horseback so much I've never really got into pocket carry too much. But since I was gonna be a pedestrian at this practice I carried Camper around in my back pocket. Worked pretty darn good in his new pants. Our daughter Alyssa was up for the day and so she went roping with us too. Camper got to meet her.

Amelie's boyfriend wasn't there so we took turns driving the quad:

As ranch ropers (not competitive team ropers) we have lots of different shots from lots of different angles not just straight behind. My wife Nichole is throwing a scoop loop head shot here:

Camper and I took a turn driving the quad too.

This is Justin Alyssa's friend. The girls are practicing team roping too:

Alyssa and Justin came up because they were bringing Alyssa's pig home from the butcher. Justin is a hunting guide and got her on a nice one that she shot at a ranged 320 yds!

Camper thought the links, later looked great. Garlic flavored and jalapeño and cheddar in this batch.

Ah, nice. Those WSM cartridges have fell by the wayside, at least around here. They are more suited to western hunting. Plenty of folks, myself included, still use the 30-30 for the short woods around here.
You see a lot of 30-30s as truck guns around here. But not as much as you use too. When I was a kid the .303 Lee Enfields were all the truck guns, well ya could get one for $25. Nowadays ya see a lot of bolt action .223/.556s as truck guns. Cheap and relatively cheap to feed.

Camper been helping in the shop with a new batch of knives:

Well it's time to say goodbye to my buddy Camper. He's heading off to PA next. He's excited about the trip!

Hello from Pittsburgh, Pa. (Well... Maybe 50' West of the city line)

Camper the traveling Muk has made it safe and sound!

Mr. Horsewright Horsewright that sheath is out of sight. I'm afraid to put a scratch on it! Lol! For today I placed it back in the OG sheath but will definitely give yours a try because I've never seen one made like that before.

I was running a little behind schedule this morning. Just felt like I needed some extra coffee so I got a chance to handle the sheaths and camper.

Here is a group shot of the displaced work knives next to camper the Muk. It's right in line with the size, should be very nice to carry around! A little thicker but it has the curves in all the right places 😁

I just wanted to check in and let everyone know it has made it here. Should be fun. We're heading up to presque isle next weekend so that should make for some interesting photos along with some from around home.

Have a good day everyone!

Nice! Glad he made it safe.

What is that middle knife? The one right below Camper? And what kind of handles does it have?

That's a utility knife from Grady slaughter Grady slaughter One of my recent snags from the knnifemakers for sale forum. It's a really nice one made from 8670 and the handle is natural micarta.
Thanks for getting my name in here, Rick. All views are good views for me! Shameless self-promotion going on here. If this is too much let know & I'll remedy it.

The day started off peacefully. Camper didn't seem to mind the typical Friday morning routine.

It got super hot and humid. Got out of work early and took care of some lawns. Then I wanted to get some wood cut up for next weekend. Camper helped rip bark off of the wood after it was split but then it started pouring so we had to hit pause for the day.

Nothing too exciting yet but I have some cool things planned for the travelling Muk! Everyone have a good weekend.

WOW, that is a gorgeous church. Do you attend there?

Cool little lanyard you have added.

I enjoy working with firewood. It's satisfying.

I basically live there! The place is like home. I've been working there for 8ish years. Love it. Maybe I'll do a picture tour of some of the more interesting points next week when the building is empty.

Thanks, it's just the normal little leather fob I tie onto most knives. Whoever gets it next can feel free to cut it off! The package came with that baggie of Paracord lanyards but I figured it wasn't going to hurt to throw some leather on it.

I can chop firewood all day. Love it. Saw some deer and a woodpecker back there. It was nice.

I had an added mission of finding some nice curly pieces in this tree but unfortunately nothing really jumped out at me so it's all getting burned.

The next section down is a big crotch and I can't wait to cut it up. There should be some nice figured stuff in there.

I would like to see a picture tour of the church, if you get the chance.

I really enjoy working with logs and cutting firewood. I heat with wood, nothing like it.
